Welcome to the August AU Planning Meme for Daybreak Academy! This post is intended to help prospective players plot their AU and figure out who their characters are in this setting and where they want to go, as well as work together with other players to plan future CR, build Secret Societies and Clubs, and generally determine where they want to start their characters, and where they want them to go. In addition to posting up the form, you are encouraged to tag around to other people's forms and discuss potential CR and plans with them. This post is an open forum for all prospective players to hash out interesting ideas for their characters ahead of joining the game.

Not sure where to start? Feel free to look through the Premise and FAQ for notes on what the game is about, and what to expect. We also encourage you to take a look at our information for in-setting Powers and Secret Societies to help flesh out your character's backstory.

Like Ruka said, there are other characters with dark backstories, it's just usualy carefully alluded to. He sounds like an interesting character!

The "relax more" mood is real. Kokoro's been putting in effort on that front herself, Yarrow will be in a lot of company in that regard.

Then awesome! As for opening up to people, I think at this point Yarrow would be okay with giving the basics out if asked, but won't go volunteering stuff. Probably after going into too much detail with someone and making them cry. He's still working on what's normal conversation and what's deeply disturbing.

And ooh, I'd love that! I think Yarrow would be a little confused by the hovering (at least until he gets better insight into the fact that his situation was leagues beyond 'normal') but he'd be alright with it.

Hell yeah! That sounds great - I dunno what Kokoro's into, but I could see them being awkward together in some recreational club/event? Either way is fun!

My current characters don't quite fit the desired CR roster but I welcome you wholly to the game should you decide to join in. Perhaps in future when my trauma lad returns from his """vacation""" there can be idle chats.

GENERAL INFORMATION

PLAYER NAME: Avery
CHARACTER NAME: Lalli Hotakainen
CANON: Stand Still Stay Silent
BLURB: First off, this is not a canon I would recommend starting in the current climate because Oh Boy! That's too close for comfort!

Second off, SSSS takes place 90 years after the world was, essentially, destroyed and overrun by monsters. There's magic, friendship (?), language barriers, cats, and, of course, a lot of horrific monsters and ghosts.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Lalli Hotakainen
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student - grade is ??? because if this AU goes inline with canon, he was in school for all of two years.
CHARACTER BLURB: •Grandson of Ensi Hotakainen, a powerful mage. Can't really say he's from a mage family because the only people in the family with magical ability are Ensi, Lalli, and Lalli's cousin Onni.
•Was trained in magic underneath Ensi until Ensi's "death" when Lalli was eight. It's not clear if she actually died, or if something Else happened.
•Joined a Finnish hunter's group after the death of his family & village with the other survivors, Onni and his sister (so Lalli's other cousin) Tuuri.
•At 19 he was recruited into an expedition into an area of the Outlands known as the Silent World in order to research a variety of monsters known as trolls, functioning as a scout for the party.
•After the expedition was wrapped up, he was left to his own devices and gently encouraged to pursue more proper mage training, with Daybreak seeming to be the obvious choice because of their standard of "we will take anyone".
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: The most obvious thing would be anyone who knew Ensi - she was a powerful and well respected mage and hunter, and Lalli is a near spitting image of her so even before learning his name it's possible to draw the connection. She's only been "dead" for about 11, 12 years and was active as a hunter and explorer of the Outlands up until her death.

There are also people who might be familiar with him or his cousins through their work with their Hunter's group. Lalli largely worked alone, but it's still possible to recognize him.
DESIRED CR: Anything and everything! People who want to be his friend, people he can be prickly at, I'm open to it all.

Also people who will dote on his cat, Kitty.

(there was a player plot in which they had to try and read something in latin and kokoro screwed up enough that we didn't get the text until valvatorez took over... so yeah)

Ekkehardt would have known his grandma at least in passing pre-Daybreak so he'd probably kind of vaguely drift past to check up on him now on then just based on that. Not sure if his family and Lalli's family had any other sort of contact though!

Hornet might have met Lalli on an Outlands trip as some kind of weird cryptid encounter honestly, if he went out there. passing by like ships in the night

HMMM i'm not sure how much contact there would have been - the Hotakainens are a very atypical mage family, though the mages in the family tend to be pretty powerful. Still, can't say no to a lich uncle.

CHARACTER NAME: Emil Västerström
CANON: Stand Still. Stay Silent
BLURB: Post-apocalyptic Nordic adventure, with some magic, and terrible body horror monsters. The reason for the apocalypse is a little too close to reality right now, as a fair warning. Emil is very well-educated but pretty dumb, so he doesn't actually know much of anything, very spoiled and vain, highly insecure, and completely tactless. He's also extremely patient, considerate, loyal, and refuses to leave anyone behind. Emil likes to complain, brag, and has only had one actual friend in his whole life, but if you're cold he'll definitely give you his jacket and probably bring you something hot to drink.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Same as canon!
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student. He's 20, and graduated public school in Sweden, then took a gap year, so he's college-age.
CHARACTER BLURB: Some bullet points:
☆ Grew up in Sweden, in a rich influential (though extremely non-magical) family, was extremely spoiled by his parents in exchange for them never being around to pay attention to him. Schooled by private tutors until his family lost all their money when he was about 15. He was forced to attend public school in another city, where he lived with his aunt and uncle and frequently babysat his three little cousins, who were just awful. He got bullied a lot, and was a bad student.

☆ When he was 19, just after graduation from school in Sweden, he went on a joint Hunter mission on a whim because he wanted to have an adventure. He met Lalli Hotakainen there, who he quickly considered a good friend despite the language barrier. During an incident with magic gone wrong, Lalli's consciousness was housed in Emil's mind for a while. After Lalli managed to get free, Emil suddenly started exhibiting signs of being a Candle.

☆ He was probably dragged to Daybreak Academy because he wasn't controlling things well and didn't know about magic and is generally ignorant and needed help. Thankfully, Lalli is here?

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Lalli Hotakainen, his canonmate. I don't have anything else set in stone but I would totally love it if anyone who came from an influential family maybe knew him in his terrible bratty early teen years???
