It's really only thanks to the uniforms and a couple of pass-alongs of pity that he's got anything not torn to shreds. But he maybe doesn't need to go into that much detail.

He's glad the kid looks a little more at ease, even if it's not by much. He laughs softly upon the question.

"They look for people, don't they? For whatever is they're trying to do, they want to find people. I'm sure there's a few here who actually are rich or fancy or what have you, but there's plenty without too." He twirls a hand in the air as he speaks. "They just want to try anything that can help. And that means they think you can. As for how I got here, eh, bit of a long story but they picked me up out of a tight spot and made me an offer. Of course I said yes. Before that though? Pretty much homeless. Don't tell the others kids too much, people get worried around that type."
