D is surprisingly used to his customers approaching him to make questionable requests for animals--maybe not so young as this boy here, but they all have a certain air of secrecy about them that feels all the more silly out here on this open sidewalk. Fortunately, the boy is perceptive enough to actually check that no one is around...and if his question is a little vague.
"This is Count D's petshop," he responds in perfect French to match the boy's request. "We have many kinds of animals from the East and the West, both popular and obscure--whatever your heart may desire. If there is a certain kind of animal you wish to purchase, we can step inside to discuss the details." He motions to the doors of the shop.
