TEST DRIVE MEME - APRIL

TESTDRIVE MEME
IC Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation

Spring is right around the corner with the passing of the Equinox, and with the season comes the changing of quarters. Vacation is on everyone’s minds, but so are lovely flowers, unfortunately timed april showers, and the prospect of getting brand new digs. Watch out - mortals aren’t the only ones finding themselves more active this season.

A. Mushroom, Mushroom, Oooooh it’s a…. badger????
With the advent of spring comes new and interesting growth. Circles of mushrooms, more commonly known in folklore around the world as fairy rings, are beginning to sprout anywhere green on campus.

You’d be wise to heed the warnings of old stories, though; anyone who steps into a fairy ring will find themselves changed once they emerge from it, entirely at the mercy of the fae magic that created the ring. It might be nothing more than a simple change of hair colour or facial features, or it could be as alarming and startling as an entire change of species.

To restore yourself back to normal, you’ll have to find another fairy ring and step through it. Considering they’re all around campus, it’s probably not a hard task...but you’d better watch your step, or you might find yourself going through several involuntary shifts before you regain your form again!

B. Poisson, not Poison

April Fools! Or April’s Fish as it is known in France. For reasons even the locals don’t know, the prankster holiday has a long association with fish, and it’s not difference on campus. It’s a yearly tradition to play a game of ‘tag the fish’, where students and faculty alike race to see who can stick the most fish - Paper, though it hasn’t stopped people from using literal fish - onto victims by noon. Winners of this little contest are treated to a special dinner.

There is absolutely no fishy business about the dinner, the staff assures you.

C. Clean Room, Clean Room, Move Down!

With Winter Quarter coming to an end and Spring Quarter starting up, students are given the option to move dorms. As students make (or lose) friends, it is not uncommon for them to want to room together or very, very far apart and the Academy is happy to facilitate this. And so, in the weeks leading up to Spring break students are able to submit room change requests, which, once approved, will give them a few weeks to clear out of their old dorm entirely and move into their new one. This can be quite the process and while the school does make moving equipment available in the form of boxes, dollies, and golf carts, students are typically on their own. With so many moving dorms at the same time, it can be a haphazard time, especially with all the golf carts whizzing about.

D. How I will Spend My Spring Vacation (text)

Hey everyone, Spring break’s coming, aren’t you excited?! I know not everyone’s going to be going on the school sponsored trip, so let’s hear where you’re doing for vacation! And if you can’t go anywhere neat, let’s hear about your dream destination!

[ The answers are, naturally, public. ]

B.

[While Professor Aizen isn't an active participant, in the festivities, he's an incredible good sport about it. And that is why by the end of the event, his haori can be seen absolutely covered in colorful fish stickers]

Ah, got me! That was a good one.

[He hasn't made any attempt to dodge or block any fish to date.]

C.

[For Faculty, Daybreak has always emphasized service to the student body in any possible way. And it is for this reason that Professor Aizen is a staple of the move-in day, driving golf carts and helping students with their relocation, always with a friendly smile and disarming demeanor.]

My my, a large load today. Where are you headed?

C. Clean Room, Clean Room, Move Down!

[ Lacus had been been tutored at home most of her life due to her father's work and nomadic lifestyle. However, due to certain circumstances, she found herself here.

She was still a bit uncertain where to go and what to do, however she was able to explore to her heart's content. ]

Professor! Good morning. I am, in fact, on my way to my room --- that is I am trying to.

I am afraid I am unable to locate my room. This is all still quite overwhelming for me.

Bear with me I haven't reworked his icons to be less evil yet

[personal profile] aboveheaven 2019-03-25 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Aizen smiles kindly.]

That's no problem, the campus can be quite confusing even for old hands like myself. Do you have your orientation paperwork or student ID? That should help.

It is okay! :D

[personal profile] thewhite_symphony 2019-03-25 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[ She shakes her head, feeling a little embarrassed now. ]

Not yet. Should I have done those first?

[personal profile] aboveheaven 2019-03-26 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
That won't be necessary. What did you say your name was? We can look up your rooming assignment and take you to the registrar after you've dropped off your belongings.

My name is Lacus Clyne. It is very nice to meet you.

[ She did her best trying to curtsy while carrying this heavy box. ]

I appreciate the assistance. This is a beautiful school, and I am very much excited to explore it.

There is a great deal of rich history and beauty in this school, I hope you will enjoy your stay.

[Aizen pulls out his smart-phone which is a bit on the old-fashioned side and flips through it with the air of a middle-aged man who can get by but is hardly an expert at modern convenience]

Ah, it looks as if you're in the Aube Dormitory. Would you like assistance with your luggage? We can load it into my cart and I can drive you over.

That would be very helpful! Thank you!

[Aizen loads her belongings into the cart and starts driving her over]

I'm told the Aube dormitory is the quieter of the two.

I do not mind a busy one either. The busy activity feels less lonely.

I have never been the sort to stay in my room. In fact, I can't wait to settle to join all this activity.

[personal profile] aboveheaven 2019-03-28 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
I doubt you'll lack for activity no matter where you end up. That said, should the dorm not be to your taste, you can always move after the quarter.

Oh? Oh, no. I apologize. I did not mean to sound like I am complaining.
aboveheaven: (02)

[personal profile] aboveheaven 2019-03-28 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
You've no worries, I didn't see it as a complaint. But the Academy is here to make sure students receive the absolute best education and environment they can, so please do not hesitate to ask for things that will make your experience better.

It's no fun if you don't even try to avoid it.

[Isabel looks disappointed.]

[personal profile] aboveheaven 2019-03-27 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
It does still count though, which is the point is it not?
morelikeisabeast: (Your leader has come to a decision)

[personal profile] morelikeisabeast 2019-03-27 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
I went to the dinner LAST year and it wasn't all that. The point is being sneaky about it!
aboveheaven: (04)

[personal profile] aboveheaven 2019-03-27 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
And you were clearly plenty sneaky, as you got me.
morelikeisabeast: (H-hey now)

[personal profile] morelikeisabeast 2019-03-27 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Hmph. Maybe I can get a better reaction out of Avery...
aboveheaven: (09)

[personal profile] aboveheaven 2019-03-27 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
He is considerably more skilled in the art of subterfuge, but I'm not sure you should be referring to him so casually.
aboveheaven: (05)

[personal profile] aboveheaven 2019-03-28 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Because you are a student and he is a professor. A certain degree of respect is in order, I should think.
morelikeisabeast: (H-hey now)

[personal profile] morelikeisabeast 2019-03-29 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, yes. But...

You've MET him, right?
aboveheaven: (09)

[personal profile] aboveheaven 2019-03-29 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
Sometimes for a man to respect himself it's important for others to respect him too. You owe respect to his position, if not the person himself.
morelikeisabeast: (Your leader has come to a decision)

[personal profile] morelikeisabeast 2019-03-30 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe I can get a better reaction out PROFESSOR Avery.

[Said with much eye rolling.]
aboveheaven: (08)

[personal profile] aboveheaven 2019-03-30 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
And I wish you best of luck with that endeavor, his responses do tend to be... varied.
