In that case Kohaku is a member (in training) of Aegis Monster Hunter Guild, which is an organization dedicated to hunting down a particular kind of daemon that tends to appear at random out of portals from the outlands and just go on bloody massacres until they’re killed. The daemons are accompanied by daemonic parasites that attach themselves to humans around the age of twelve. All of Aegis’ frontline agents have a parasite like this in them.
They generally have a pretty good reputation in the supernatural world for helping and protecting humanity, but the upper echelons are definitely up to some Shady Shit. The daemonic corruption might mean they have a tense relationship with an organization that’s part of the Church, but I imagine it’s not uncommon for Order agents and Aegis hunters to form temporary alliances in the field when facing off against a greater threat. So Kohaku and Alma are probably at least aware of each other’s groups.
