Spring is here, and the campus as fully sprung to life. As school life marches ever on, all the signs of winter have retreated, as the days grew warmer, one could feel titter-pated, but even during this time of year, it isn’t all flowers and sunshine.


A. Spring’s is here, life is skittles
The sun is starting to stay out longer, and the air is filled with bird song, flowers, and pollen. Several cherry trees on the campus itself is starting to blossom, making a romantic picnic spot, or for the Japanese students to have a little home away from home. Many professors also are starting to hold their classes outdoors to enjoy the sun - unless they're vampires.

Just check for mushroom rings before you lay the tablecloth down.

B. What’s bugging you?
As the chill winter surrenders to spring, the Wooly Bugs started to swarm the mountains chasing the receding cold, and has descended upon Daybreak academy once again. Wild ones are extremely docile and will even submit to be sheared, which faculty will pay students to assist with as Wooly Bug wool are excellent materials for magical clothing.

The adorable little creatures will cling to fridges, iceboxes, and any anyone who underdressed for the weather, sapping away the chill. While they are good for warming up, if they’re left unchecked, a person can get swarmed and succumb to heat stroke.

C. Walpurgis Night
Among the magically aware, even the most hidebound of mages bow down to the traditions of Walpurgis Night, when magic flows strongly and fires burn in celebration all throughout the night, with the last of winter being chased off by the flames.

A local coven has always extended an invitation to staff and students into the forests surrounding Soliel to join them in celebrations, plenty of drinks for those of age, with merriment involving familiars and mischievous spirits abound. It’s become a tradition to try to find the first tree in bloom, or to try to fly a broom - careful though, some of the flying brooms are endowed with prankish spells to add some mischief to the party.

D. IRIS NETWORK
Hey everyone! What is Spring to you? What do you look at and say, “Ah, spring is here!” For me, it’s sneezing until my nose falls off before I hand out flowers all over campus so everyone can enjoy them!

Well I wasn’t being literal about my nose falling off, I forgot this place can be weird. Anyways, What’s Spring to you?

A. EVERYTHING IS AWFUL

[Alucard was awoken from his centuries long slumber...

In the god damned spring. Everything is bright and sunny and cheerful. There are birds chirping in the air; there is the ever present sing-song of the crickets and insects. There is the smell of fresh-cut grass, and pollen, and scores of humans ambling around the otherwise pleasantly gothic campus of an ancient institute of higher learning.

Adrian Tepes thinks this is all highly annoying. The vampire is sitting underneath a tree and giving a wonderfully golden-eyed scowl at all of... this. Until he spots someone stepping towards a mushroom ring.

Then he sighs. As a graduate student, he is obliged -- he assumes -- to do something besides "fuck all."] You're going to call the fae down on us, and then I'll be bothered to have to leave my tree.

C. EVERYTHING IS BULLSHIT WHEN YOU'RE PART OF A TEAM

[Ah, Walpurgis Night. This is familiar. One of his father's favorite holidays. Which means that Alucard loves it... and thus hates it, at the same time.

Still, he is partaking. At present time, he is walking through the forest with his partner of the moment. He has an intense look on his face, as he glances side-to-side -- and as he scouts ahead. His lips curl into a frown, which incidentally shows his fangs. But he doesn't bother to hide being a vampire on campus.

Why bother?]

The trees tend to bloom deeper in the forest, first. To piss us off, you see.

D. EVERYTHING IS AWFUL WHEN YOU'RE LIVING OUT A DREAM

[The vampire "Arthur Bell" took the stroll casually, his eyes drawing to the source of his companion's ire, before giving a low chuckle of his own]

That implies that nature cares enough about us to be spiteful.

I like to think of it as a spiteful apathy.

[He's not sure if that's a thing. Adrian glances sideways at Arthur Bell. He shrugs his shoulders.]

Though nature might have a problem with certain types of people. [Like vampires.]

Are you always so overdramatic and grumpy?

Yes.

You must not have a lot of qualities, then.

Hm, that much is at least true, though it does seem to vary quite a bit, there seems to be no hard and fast rule -

[He suddenly stops, lifting and swinging his cane to act as a barrier to stop Alucard in his tracks]

Hold for a second.

If it's always unpredictable, maybe the rule is it's always unpredictable.

[Alucard sighs, with a groan--

And then he stops in his tracks, at the cane. But he does eye it, like "seriously?"]

I'm full of astounding qualities.

But I fear many of them irritate people. It's delightful.

[He nods, as he uses the cane to brush away the ground, revealing a squarish, flat object that looks like it could be pressed down, before kneeling against one of the trees, pushing away foliage, revealing another square object tied around the tree]

Camera Trap.

[faszfej]

[Alucard groans.

He steps forward, not enough to step on the trap, then peers up at the camera. Then he glances at Arthur.]

So... a practical joke, on someone's part.

Doubt it, probably a hobbyist hoping to take pictures of foxes or deer given the angle. Should mark it so no one runs through here wielding magic.

[He steps back]

Wonderful inventions, but it makes bloody difficult to hide in plain sight.

Wow, getting real mixed messages here.

But I guess if you enjoy being an asshole that's fine. If you're saying that you're an asshole, anyways.

I suppose it would be rude and counterproductive to just tear the damned thing down.

[Alucard frowns up at the camera. Then, he nods.]

Mark the tree, tell the school when we return?

[faszfej]

There's no reason to hide what I am.

People might get the wrong idea. It would be inconvenient for everyone.

Well that's an admirable way to look at things, I guess!

Giving people what they pay for and all of that. Not the worst idea in the world.

[faszfej]

Just so. Some would call it a service.

Besides, the humans tend to draw their own conclusions about me. Why not indulge them in a way that is entertaining for all of us?

[transfusionem]

I guess being upfront about not being human is a good thing, geez.

Is it really entertaining for EVERYONE? Sounds more like it's just entertaining for you.

I provide irritation like a fine wine. It grows better with age.

[transfusionem]

Does that mean people get more or less irritated with you as time goes on?

[faszfej]

They come to appreciate the breadth, depth and terroir of all the ways I can be an asshole.

[like the fact that that he goes to the trouble to italicize foreign loanwords]

So it's the same level of irritation, just more well-rounded. Gotcha.

[Shockingly, Adelaide isn't...all that annoyed with him. But she deals with the likes of Rex and Toki, who are irritating in their own unique ways, and likes them to boot.]
