SEPTEMBER TEST DRIVE MEME

SEPTEMBER TEST DRIVE MEME

Daybreak’s inevitable clash with the Herald isn’t far from everyone’s minds, and while there’s an attempt at normal routine, classes show an inevitable turn to the more combat and support-oriented topics. Homework generally becomes more of the practical sort; quizzes and tests are temporarily put aside to teach students both new and old lessons on survival on the battlefield. While September’s weather is beginning to lose its hot, muggy characteristics as the last days of summer give way to autumn, the fresher air is taken advantage of mostly to train and work outside (though students are routinely encouraged to take breaks and play).
A. Training Day
The Headmistress makes a rare appearance as an instructor in swordsmanship, supervising the Mithril Cage and the Legionnaire’s Quarters' temporary conversion into higher-level training grounds, where those already experienced can hone their skills. Those who are still green but game will be finding themselves under thorough rapid-fire drills and exercises. Of course it’s not all training; break times were spread out to allow their bodies to rest and recover to prevent burn out before the Herald’s arrival.
B. Battle Meditation (not that one)
Various levels of relaxation techniques from yoga and exercises to music therapy and even mediation graves for the vitally challenged have been provided to help calm the minds of those preparing to go into the battlefield. Whether those things are actually helping depends more on the individual than anything else, but if you’re nervous, maybe it’s worth a try.
C. Keeping Stock
In times of great need, every kind of resource is brought into intense scrutiny. Everything from strange, potentially helpful artifacts to magical plants to weaponry of all types is undergoing a fierce amount of care and polish. And just like any extensive book-keeping that hasn’t been done in a while, it turns up all sorts of oddities that haven’t exactly been accounted for. Magical armor with something of an attitude, snappish plants that are responding to the changes in the air, magical items and gadgets that tend to try to get themselves lost when their creators aren’t looking...the list goes on, and while staff and students alike are bearing down as extra hands to get things under control, there’s bound to be mishaps along the way.

So everyone’s out fighting: What’s your weapon? What’s the weapon you’d love to use if you had the means?
