Welcome to the November AU Planning Meme for Daybreak Academy! This post is intended to help prospective players plot their AU and figure out who their characters are in this setting and where they want to go, as well as work together with other players to plan future CR, build Secret Societies and Clubs, and generally determine where they want to start their characters, and where they want them to go. In addition to posting up the form, you are encouraged to tag around to other people's forms and discuss potential CR and plans with them. This post is an open forum for all prospective players to hash out interesting ideas for their characters ahead of joining the game.
Not sure where to start? Feel free to look through the Premise and FAQ for notes on what the game is about, and what to expect. We also encourage you to take a look at our information for in-setting Powers and Secret Societies to help flesh out your character's backstory.

I looked at this dumb kid before and I'm looking at her again, here's the old planning thread from last September: (link will open in new tab)
OKAY GUYS CHANGE OF PLANS
PLAYER NAME: Espilan
CHARACTER NAME: The Witch
CANON: Dragon: Marked For Death
BLURB: A girl from a clan of dragon-worshipping people that everybody hates (for worshipping said dragon) enters into a contract with the Astral Dragon Atruum for the sake of revenge when the clan's village is attacked and destroyed by knights of the nearby kingdom. In order to gain an audience with the king who had ordered the razing of the village, she becomes an Adventurer™ and builds up a reputation of being a badass that takes on any job no matter how dangerous it is. She eventually fails to actually kill the king because he went and died of his own stupid mistakes before she could do it, but she gets blamed for his death anyway.
Then she learns that Atruum is Not Good, and fights against him using the very power he had granted her in order to prevent him from using her for his own goals. Most of the possible outcomes of this battle are Bad Ends because this is an IntiCreates game.
AU INFORMATION
CHARACTER AU NAME: Katida
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: student, probably in 11th? maybe?? idk I'm trying to decide what I want her age to be because there is no stated age in canon
CHARACTER BLURB: I think DMFD's setting itself would work well as being part of the outlands (with Atruum being a Daemon), so: Basically the same as canon, probably, except with not yet being up to the point where she fights Atruum. (Thus leaving him available as a Potential Complication when Things Happen.)
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: I...honestly am not sure. If this sounds like someone your character(s) would already be aware of and possibly actually give a damn about, then by all means, hit me the heck up.
DESIRED CR:
• The whole thing with the Astral Dragon being a Daemon within the AU may be a possible point of interest where Emille is concerned, in which case I'd expect her and this girl to...not really hit it off very well. At all. For what I believe should be obvious reasons.
• Positive influences, oh my god, please. She'll be 100% a disaster without them.
• Actually you know what give me literally anything.
OTHER: Since I'm looking at having her be an Outlander and aiming to keep things close to canon, I'm a bit stuck at the moment on how to justify her coming across to Earth and Daybreak and then staying, instead of her just going back the way she came to continue doing what she's doing. If anybody's got any ideas, lemme have 'em.

as for ideas how to get her to stick around, while emille's dragon stuff isn't the same thing the influence could feel similar enough to keep her hanging around to investigate

tbh by now she'll have long gotten used to some people just kinda hanging over her (usually judging her and usually not favorably) so Hornet just being Around would at least be something sorta familiar but also Very Uncomfortable.
also yeah feeling something similar to what she herself knows would probably warrant some amount of investigation, which can explain the decision to stay.
as for what led to her being on Earth in the first place, the current idea is she ended up crossing over while trying to work on one of her Adventurer jobs, like say searching for a missing person or something, in which their own crossing over could have been a possibility, but I'm wondering if that would be Enough or if there should be more to it

edit 2: am now thinking of the idea that the whole Missing Person job was made up by someone to trick her into crossing over with it being somehow too dangerous to turn back afterward, as a way to be rid of her without having to actually try to kill her

[11:17 PM] Espilan: what things are looking like so far, in summary:
• canon events from before confronting the king.
• accepts a missing person job that leads her to cross over because of a noted likelihood that the person did as well. finds it too dangerous to try to turn back.
• goes awhile with no further leads regarding her missing person, starts to believe that the whole job was faked as a way to make her leave Remlia.
• learns about DB either during her search before she comes to said conclusion, or sometime after. either way, she sees a way to make the best of her situation.
• DB admin/faculty probably find it sus af that she's contracted to a Daemon nobody's heard any news of in forever. probably allow her to get in as that gives them a way to keep an eye on her.

Valvatorez will almost certainly have heard the name of Atruum before, given the magnitude the Astral Dragon has in the canon of DMFD. His information might be outdated though, because for all he knows, Atruum should be *dead* by all accounts. So that would be Suspicious that there's a contracted Witch still bound to him. If nothing else he might be able to provide her with Suspicion about Atruum's own motives if the subject comes up.
Leon could potentially just be a good influence because he's a golden retriever and a good boy who will actually be Nice to her in spite of the whole Contract thing. Which of course will probably be sus at first but overall he's actually genuine.
And come on like I can't tag the Witch with Gunvolt because they're both Inti and suffering is most of their lives collectively. I guess GV can be a good influence in not letting Bad Things in life stop you from doing Good Things anyway!

Finding out that the Witch is explicitly bound to Atruum would be a very, very obvious giveaway that he wasn't actually dead, if the existence of the Clan itself wasn't enough. (Of course, it could have been assumed that the Dragonblood Clan's name and traits came from somewhere else, if he hadn't heard anything of their origin.)
She would probably already be aware of who Val is, too, considering she's an Outlander and he has one hell of a reputation himself. She's...not likely to act scared of him, though. She'll know that she should be, and she probably actually will be, but considering her Everything, she's damn well not gonna actually show it.
As for Leon, yeah...yeah. Consistently not giving a damn about what she is, etc., will initially be considered Sus AF because you know she's going to expect to be treated like worse than shit, but if or when she comes to the realization that he really isn't bothered by the contract or other things about her, she may actually start to trust him.
And then GV... Inti's gonna Inti. We both know this.
