He is a good boy but also a manipulative bastard and a compulsive liar and somebody who tries very very hard and tells nobody anything and only likes maybe two or three people in the entire world but would give his life for them. He contracted with a demon and gained illusion powers when he was 6, lived in an orphanage until he was 13 and started attending Daybreak, made two more ill advised contracts and gained healing magic and death magic, and then the Herald was suddenly a thing and he promptly fucks off to Canada instead to be with his sister (aka dropped from the game). Now it's a year and a half since then and he's back because ??? because I wanted to play in the fourth wall
WHAT I WANT: Mostly people who have been around Daybreak Academy for the past five years that Kano would recognize and just start talking to like he hadn't just disappeared for two years, or anybody who would've sent him updates about what's been going on in the country during that time. Classmates from Canada? if, for any reason, somebody's AU is set in Canada and they would return with him. Also any reason for him to be back here, otherwise his default is "gotta make sure Ramona's inn doesn't get leveled"

on a more serious note, Mav appreciates someone else looking out for Ramona and the inn. He'll be around for the fourth wall, mostly healing but some defense, and I'd love if they just had a chill conversation while chaos happens around them.

He's probably visited him in Canada a couple times with his robot partner, Rover, but other than that he's just been going around the world. Sending weird shit. Sending homework despite the fact that he isn't doing any homework because he isn't in school.

Stuff not mentioned is that his back has been unfucked, so his respawn time from being killed is down to 30 minutes and he can feel pain again, along with having the capacity to summon a magical coffin-machine gun. He was a math professor until I dropped because I kind of needed an rp break in general, and he's icly probably still on faculty? maybe? will y'all take me back for the 4th wall???

Anyway, what happened was shortly after helping out with people falling asleep in their own dreamsapes (a precursor to the Beast that is Man), he promptly and abruptly went into a state of torpor for reasons unknown (but honestly probably connected to Sherlock and the whole vampirism thing and potentially running extremely low on magical energy.) He's now woken up in time just for the final apocalypse, hurray!

CHARACTER AND AU SUMMARY: A daemon from the Outland known as Veldime. Veldime is a verdant place, filled with lush natural beauty and magic, but cursed by an evil daemon overlord that turned the former near-human populace into daemons. Adell liberated Veldime and saved his family and the people of it from the overlord's power, learning the truth of his origins and blah blah blah Disgaea 2. However, after hearing about the liberation of Hades by a bunch of ragtag humans and daemons and an angel(?) and learning of Nightfall from Overlord Zenon's writings, Adell set off to Earth to help save that too, and hopefully get into a sick battle worth remembering and maybe come to see the Human World and get souvenirs for his siblings.

Adell isn't all that much different in this universe because he didn't get apped. He's a hotblooded, righteous, honest, forthright, shonen-style protagonist except he actually has a brain in his head so he's nowhere near as stupid as people think. Like Valvatorez, he is hellbent on keeping his promises. If no one reached out to him to tell him to come to Earth/Daybreak, it can be assumed that he heard about Valvatorez's deeds and had to see everything he valued so much for himself, but I'd prefer to have him have more reasons than just that.

WHAT I WANT: Anyone and anything. Someone who might've reached out to him or knew him somehow from Veldime (even if it's remote), potential friends, allies, and battle buddies. Someone to look freakin' cool with. The like.

CHARACTER AND AU SUMMARY: Marth hails from the island kingdom of Altea, located off the European continent. Though Altea is a small kingdom and one often ignored by the affairs of the European Union, it is surprisingly advanced and modern, but it's something of a hidden treasure. Though not strictly isolationist, Altea carefully controlled its borders prior to the Veil being breached. Truth of it was, Altea was one of those sorts of places where medieval magic and fantasy actually happened on the regular, and was home to a great many mages and even a few dragons... and it housed a portal to the Outlands that the royal family and people were tasked to guard. As such, Marth and his family spent time in diplomatic relations with Outland realms, and unfortunately fought wars with one, known as Dohlr, as well as the various puppet realms it held by the strings. Masterminded by the fell Dark Pontifex Gharnef and the Shadow Dragon Medeus, Marth and Altea served as the vanguard to Earth, holding back these forces from spilling into the world. Afterward, he brought peace to the Outland realms conquered by Dolhr, helping them rebuild... and ironically enough, finding himself King of them by the peoples' decree. Word of a human Hero King spread throughout the Outlands, one that commands the United Kingdom of Archanea and Altea, a leader with one foot in the mundane world and the supernatural as well.

With two major wars finished and Gharnef and Medeus now dead, Marth is finally able to turn his sights on protecting Earth from the Suneater. Armed with the legendary blade Falchion, a sword forged from the fang of the Divine Dragon Naga with the power to slay dragons, and the mythical Fire Emblem binding shield capable of sealing them, Marth and the Altean military are ready to join the fight to put an end to Nightfall once and for all.

Yes, in this AU Marth has a stereotypically noble line of names because it makes sense and it amuses me.

WHAT I WANT: Diplomatic ties and people who can meet this down-to-earth and humble monarch. He very much wants to learn more about Daybreak Academy and the extraordinary individuals from there, with the hopes of building more bonds with the people of the world. With Altea now having to step out of the relative shadows, he will need all the friends he can get.

Also I want him to be part of throwing down with the Suneater because like. Come on. Fire Emblem's all about punching a dragon out at the end of the game.

Showing up to help stop the apocalypse out of nowhere is pretty par for the course really. He doesn't really have his team yet, since this is early on in the timeline for him.
WHAT I WANT: PR...ETTY MUCH ANYTHING. He is notorious for being a Tad Unorthodox even by Outlands standards so you may have heard of him for good OR bad reasons. You might even think he's cool (somehow).

CHARACTER AND AU SUMMARY: Byleth is a Seer from the Outlands region of Fódlan (which consists of the Adrestian Empire, Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, and Leicester Alliance), and also a former mercenary known as the Ashen Daemon who's done a couple of jobs for Daybreak Academy in the past. She'd gone radio silent recently, however, but for a good reason! She'd since traded the life of a mercenary for one of the newest professor at Garreg Mach Monastery's Officer Academy. She's back now, however, and ready to punch a sun-eating dragon in the face because come on, she's a Fire Emblem character.
WHAT I WANT: People who knew Byleth as the (apparently emotionless) Ashen Daemon! People she might have brought along from Garreg Mach! (Fighting Suneater makes for one hell of a field trip, right?) Anything's great :D

It'd make for a fun thing, and Byleth's skill probably impressed Val during that time. Seeing her change, and her grow and become more as a teacher is something they can very much bond over, right?

CHARACTER AND AU SUMMARY: Son of internationally famous actor who followed in his footsteps and has been typecast as a villain since getting his first role as a child. But that's fine. He's not upset about that or anything and doesn't have any sort of complex over never being good enough to achieve his dreams.

He's also an expy for the Evil Queen from Snow White, so, you know, that's nothing to be concerned about. Don't worry about the fact he can curse anything he touches and has an encyclopedic knowledge of poisons.

In the AU he's still a famous actor & influencer (despite his baby age of 18) who was raised around magic and the entertainment industry both. His father, Eric Schoenheit, is still also incredibly famous but also incredibly mundane, Vil learning magic from his mother. That kind of helped keep things on the downlow until the veil fell. He's an incredibly talented mage, ruthless and driven, but his real skills lie in alchemy and potions. He Will Never Take A Vacation, Ever, and is always trying to be one step ahead of everyone else. Also, still drop-dead gorgeous and works incredibly hard to maintain his appearance and studies his ass off. Why be good at one thing when you can be good at everything???

CHARACTER AND AU SUMMARY: Do you ever meet someone who is both the biggest asshole and the only person with any empathy and emotional intelligence? That's Ace. He's abrasive and rude but also one of the few people who stops to consider how things could been done Better, even if that is mostly by being one of the few people willing to tell people to their face that they're fucking up. He's just a simple lad who is not very bright when it comes to academics. He's honestly just kind of an idiot.

He's also from the Disney villain pretty boy magic school mobage, except he's just a card soldier rip off and not, like. Anyone cool like the Queen of Hearts or Hades.

In the AU he is an American lad from a pretty established hunter family - his father and older brother are both hunters, but his maternal grandparents were both mages who moved to America from Italy. His grandmother taught him a fair bit of magic while his father and brother were out on hunts and his mother, who had no interest in magic, was too busy with work to watch over him. He's not very strong or gifted, but he's GREAT emotional support.

CHARACTER: Pleinair Allaprima | Disgaea (as a whole, really) | allaprima

CHARACTER AND AU SUMMARY: A daemon of indeterminate age (seriously, she's present in every Disgaea game to date, and if you consider the fact that Disgaea 5 is set way before the others, she's very likely one of the older characters among the series' entire cast) as well as indeterminate origin because she kind of constantly goes from place to place; drops in on any given Outland region, sticks around for awhile and does some mundane job or another to keep herself busy while there, then eventually moves on. At some point, this included crossing paths with Valvatorez and sticking with him for awhile while he did some of his post-Artina-but-pre-Daybreak stuff, then she went off to do her own thing again after Val went to Daybreak to become a teacher.

The recent incident in Hades put Valvatorez (and by extension, Daybreak) back on her radar, and she's going to be showing up to help prevent Nightfall from coming to pass because...well, she personally has no interest in Earth, but she's aware or at least suspects that there will be consequences for the Outlands as well—maybe not immediate consequences, but somewhere down the line—and she wants to prevent that.

CHARACTER AND AU SUMMARY: One of the academy's slightly-younger students (14ish), I'm currently thinking "Candle with wind powers", and as something of a nod to the last actual game she was in, she's going to be the adopted daughter of the OC that Triad is planning to bring in for this. Super cheerful, super talkative, sometimes super annoying, and prone to attaching herself at the hip to anyone that she likes and trying to be like 110% involved in their shit. She tends to doing everything she can to help those same people with basically anything within reason, even if she has no goddamn business trying at all.

CHARACTER AND AU SUMMARY: A former mercenary ace fighter pilot, now turned full-time employed pilot for Daybreak Academy. Manfred Vaeris, callsign "Specter," earned a reputation at being the best modern day mundane fighter pilot, commanding an elite group of ragtag pilots known as the SkyKnights. Deployed all over the world, they saw action in a wide swath of places... until at one point they ended up making a veil piercing discovery. Over the skies of Altea, they encountered a group of hostile dragons. Having survived their encounter, the SkyKnights were confronted later by a group sent by the UN to ensure their silence peacefully. Somewhat at a loss about what it meant for them, the group was shortly thereafter approached by Daybreak Academy, headhunted for their piloting skills. Offered an incredibly lucrative contract, incredible benefits, and the chance to fly the most state of the art magical aircraft around, the SkyKnights took the deal, essentially incorporating under the Academy as employees.

Manfred has now been working for the Academy for about five years, and is the foremost Rune Wing pilot in the fleet. Having served as both a dropship and fighter pilot for the Academy, odds are, if you got dropped into a hot zone, Manfred may well have served as your pilot or your escort. Doubly so if you took a trip with Valvatorez at any point; there's quite a friendship between the two, and Manfred is the vampire's preferred pilot for all manner of business. At some point during his time with the Academy, he adopted a girl named Celia, and is also a full-time father to her at this point.

A mostly mundane man at the time of his employment, but he has taken the opportunities Daybreak has given him to improve his education and learn some magic and runic engineering. Is a capable Light Mage in a pinch, but he'd rather be flying. While on mission, Manfred is quite serious, disciplined, and professional, and his skill is incredible. He might come off cold or aloof at those times. On the ground and while off duty, he's friendly, approachable, and good-natured.

WHAT I WANT: Coworkers, friends among staff, fellow pilots (either aircraft or vehicles), and people to joke around with. Odds are, he's probably been part of off-screen faculty night shenanigans along with members of his team. That is, unless he had to leave early to make sure Celia got to bed on time. Throw people at the guy, is what I'm saying.

CHARACTER AND AU SUMMARY: Therion started at Daybreak in 2019's fall semester, not because he wanted to, but because a magic mail company caught him janking their deliveries and battle school seemed a better option than literal prison. The source of his powers is unclear--is he part Fey, or is he a Candle whose powers express themselves in a remarkably Fey-like manner?--but run mostly to small-scale feats of stealth, infiltration, locked doors, item extraction, or any sort of DnD rogue-like action. His primary skill is a limited ability to blink through solid objects, for example.

For the past year or so I imagine he's been off dismantling his former partner's rising criminal organization and literally ruining his career. Taking part in the final battle was part of his plea bargain, though, so he's back to Cause Problems On Purpose.
WHAT I WANT: He'll want to catch up with all the folks he essentially ghosted, primarily! Also if anyone wants to have been involved in Operation Infiltrate a Crime Ring and Steal All Their Stuff, my arms are open.

Back when he was at Daybreak he got caught up in hunting fellow students due to that influence, freaked out, and shortly went back home to... deal with that. So he's been gone! But if he returns it's because he feels terrible letting his friends risk their lives and not doing the same. He might not have told his mom he left.

WHAT I WANT: Reconnecting with CR, new short term connections... what progress he's made re: demon stuff is p up in the air right now I'll... work that out but am open to handwave CR through that.

CHARACTER AND AU SUMMARY: Bowser is a professor who went missing not long after the fight against the first herald. Like just up and vanished. His overall personality and backstory are largely unchanged; he's the big bad king of koopas and Mario's number one enemy.
WHAT I WANT: Oldies and newbies are very much welcome! Bowser is going to be a little angrier and a lot bigger upon his return, but when that's sorted out I'm sure he'll be more than happy to lend a hand.

BASICALLY he's going to be very much Not Himself at the start of the plot. Something to do with a previous herald. Either way, he'll be a big warm up before the true final boss as befitting an RPG with Bowser in it.

CHARACTER AND AU SUMMARY: Before the veil broke, there were rumors going around about a mysterious zombie woman popping in and out of various cities before vanishing entirely. Typically she could be found at the local graveyard. Though many were skeptical, it was worthy of note that whatever cemetery she was rumored to be spotted in had clear signs of grave robbery. Eventually Daybreak decided to check it out and ended up finding a curious ally in the young necromancer. Chances are you've probably had her as a sub.
WHAT I WANT: ANYONE AND EVERYONE! Zozo works best off of really energetic or snarky characters because she's such a weirdo, but overall I'm down to thread with whoever is interested in her. Just be warned that her body isn't in the most stable shape, so she's prone to having body parts just...fall off mid-conversation.

CHARACTER AND AU SUMMARY: Hey, do you know King Arthur? Well, you do now. Artoria is a version of King Arthur who was unable to die as Bedivere failed to return the sword Excalibur to the Lady of the Lake. As she could not die and ascend to Avalon, she instead took up the holy lance Rhongomyniad and wandered the Earth for hundreds of years. Over time her humanity solely but surely faded away until she became a divine spirit; an avatar of the lance. Forced to wander the world in search of purpose, eventually she stumbled upon Daybreak Academy. With the coming of Nightfall steadily approaching, Artoria has decided to lend her lance to the school's aid in the hopes of saving humanity.
WHAT I WANT: Anybody who may have stumbled upon Artoria in the past, people to think she's cool, people who are doubtful, people who don't even know who King Arthur is, etc. etc. I'm undecided as to how long she's been at the academy, so feel free to present any ideas you have. I'm open!

CHARACTER AND AU SUMMARY: Serena is a Tamer who, despite originally coming from Soleil, only attended Daybreak for a few years before. Upon sufficiently developing her abilities, she left the school to join up with the Kalos League, a Tamer coven that has worked with Daybreak for decades. She's been having her adventures in collecting various familiars offscreen, you see. Serena's one of the youngest Tamers within the Kalos League to attain 'Champion' status by going through a series of trials that may or may not involve fighting against other folks in the League.
WHAT I WANT: Friends, people she was classmates with before hecking off, fellow Tamers, people who will 'ooh' and 'ahh' over her new familiars, rivals, anything's good!

CHARACTER AND AU SUMMARY: Viola here's a 9th-grader who got a one-off mention in an inbox thread between Desi and Val as one of the students in the classes that Desi's been helping with, and I decided that I wanted to do something with her, so deal with it. I was originally planning to just NPC her in at least one of Desi's threads in the actual endgame stuff because REASONS, but y'know.

She's pretty much a pyromancer, preferring to wield fire for both offensive and utility purposes (but that doesn't mean she's incapable of other things or that she lacks an understanding of them), and is a Mage from the same family that Desi herself has ties to; Viola's mother is one of three cousins to Desi's. Desi herself is unaware of this because she's never tried asking Viola about her personal life (having seen no reason to) and also has never seen Viola not in the school uniform (and as a result of this, hasn't seen the tattoo). This is going to be changing once Things start happening if she doesn't wind up being made aware before then.
