AUGUST AU PLANNING
Log Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation

Welcome to the August AU Planning Meme for Daybreak Academy! This post is intended to help prospective players plot their AU and figure out who their characters are in this setting and where they want to go, as well as work together with other players to plan future CR, build Secret Societies and Clubs, and generally determine where they want to start their characters, and where they want them to go. In addition to posting up the form, you are encouraged to tag around to other people's forms and discuss potential CR and plans with them. This post is an open forum for all prospective players to hash out interesting ideas for their characters ahead of joining the game.

Not sure where to start? Feel free to look through the Premise and FAQ for notes on what the game is about, and what to expect. We also encourage you to take a look at our information for in-setting Powers and Secret Societies to help flesh out your character's backstory.

Please note, simply posting here is not enough to guarantee your spot in the game. If you are interested in playing a character, you will want to Reserve them.

GENERAL INFORMATION

PLAYER NAME: Eski
CHARACTER NAME: James Moriarty / Archer of Shinjuku
CANON: Fate / Grand Order
BLURB: Moriarty is a 'Heroic Spirit' - a familiar who is the manifestation of his legacy in life, which is also called a Servant. The culprit behind an incident in a 'singularity' of shinjuku in 1999, he's a charismatic and evil man who is also apparently got a good side...or at least, that's what's shown when he shows up with no memories. (It's a long complicated story to go into here.)

Despite being known as a ruthless, calculating spider, he's surprisingly cheerful, lively, a bit of a prankster, and has a definite soft spot for children and teenage girls calling him 'papa' (I swear to god that's more innocent than it sounds). He's basically a jolly old man who can sometimes reveal he's much, much more than that, and show the napoleon of crime underneath.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: James Moriarty
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Faculty, teaching Mathmatics (obviously)
CHARACTER BLURB:
BACKSTORY

-His backstory is the same as the books, though following a bit more with the version FGO presents (him turning to crime after having his book be censored/blacklisted in academia instead of the implication he was a criminal even as a professor) up to the falls.

-He and Sherlock both fall into Reichenbach, Moriarty still bouncing off a rock (and breaking his back in the process) and going underwater.

-However, unknown to either of the two men, they'd accidentally set off a ritual connected to Reichenbach falls by doing what they did on just the right day and time, and basically connected their fates to each other. Normally, they'd have died too quickly to realize what happened, buuuut...Then Dracula turns Sherlock, and through the link, the nearly drowned Moriarty suddenly can't die.

-Due to the whole 'broken back' thing, Moriarty basically loses consciousness for 5 years and runs around on autopilot until his mind essentially gets used to the continual agony...which also basically leaves him with an absolutely absurd pain tolerance, because compared to having a compressed spine that shouldn't be functioning but is literally forced to due to magic bullshit, not much really hurts anymore!

-He also notes that while he's still warm, breathes (though he doesn't strictly need to), and bleeds, he definitely doesn't have a pulse, or really experiences hunger much anymore. Amused at the thought of somehow gaining immortality when he wasn't looking for it in the slightest, he goes about his merry way until the modern day, travelling all around the world and living the best he can, never really staying in one place very long due to the aforementioned Immortality...and that most of the time he's diving headlong into crime (and also testing out that immortality by dying, uh, a lot, some in controlled tests, and some because having your current alias 'die' by getting taken out by other criminal elements is a lot easier and more final than just leaving town, plus being able to collect on insurance money through other fake identities named as recipients).

-However, he does wonder why he gained immortality when he doesn't...really remember doing anything to gain it, so recently (about 5 years or so before the current time) he began to dip his toes into the more supernatural side of the world, running a few scams here and there because you gotta, and eventually coming to learn about Nightfall and Daybreak academy.

-When he learns about the academy, it's right after another of his identities in the human world has passed - and he figures that teaching again might be nice...and if he could potentially learn more about this 'Nightfall' thing, that would be an added bonus, and he may as well use his original name, because why the hell not?

-Gets hired over the school break, and is set to teach mathmatics in the fall. He's also keeping his immortality and the fact that he's basically a very weird undead as under wraps as possible, and be evasive when asked.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR:
-People who may or may not have seen him or heard about him / his various identities over the years. He's been around a long while, and notorious with some of his identities especially for those who may have been criminals, or potentially even victims of some of his schemes, though the appearance he's currently got is definitely not the one he's worn in the past.

-Faculty will most likely have been introduced to him, since he'll be more beginning to settle in when I introduce him. So we can work out the pleasantries side of things pretty quick!

DESIRED CR:
-People who will pester him, or be willing to be adopted by him if they're a young, good hearted (or evil, or mischevious) youth/ teenager / child. Well okay not really ADOPTED but adopted in all but papers, that sort of thing.

-He'll also kind of be prone to accidental injury due to being unable to feel most pain anymore (akin to people who have CIPA disease), so uh, medical people, I'm sorry. Since he regenerates from injury as well, he'll complain about having to come in when it'll just heal up in like an hour anyway, God. He'll being using the cover story that he pretty much has a constant healing spell going at all times because he can't feel pain as a precaution.

-People who'll challenge him, or snark at him, or honestly just interact with him at all. I'm not picky and I'll take what I can get okay.

OTHER:
- Moriarty has died a lot, and will potentially die and come back in the future, so if you're not cool with that then feel free to skip him.
- He'll still have butterflies that pop in and out of existance randomly, though they're more just magical illusions than anything familiar or demonlike, and will pretty easily read as something that comes from 'him' for anyone sensitive enough to it. They can manipulate small items, and mostly serve as reminders / ways to grab small items he doesn't feel like going back for, like a pen or the remote. FEEL FREE TO HAVE PEOPLE ASK HIM ABOUT THIS, since a spell like that would be pretty complicated to have going on randomly and is a hint that he's kind of...shadier than he seems, SHOCKING!!

GENERAL INFORMATION

PLAYER NAME: Kathrine
CHARACTER NAME: M-21
CANON: Noblesse
BLURB: A sci-fi/fantasy-influenced version of our own world where a secret organization called The Union has been slowly building power over hundreds of years to take over the world by getting rid of anything else at the top of the food chain and doing this by experimenting on humans and turning them into enhanced/ex-humans using advanced science, technology, and supernatural beings. Unknown to most humans there are two other races of beings, Werewolves and a group recently known as Nobles, that are where the original myths about vampires are said to derive although they don't actually drink blood unless they choose to (because blood is nutritious and a powerful binding element). M-21 is a human who was kidnapped, experimented on for some time (older than he looks, even with the hair), and eventually was deemed a failed experiment. He and the other M Experiments have no memories of their past lives before waking up in test tubes and no idea how to find out the truth about themselves. One by one they were beaten, abused, and killed by the Union or on missions for the Union.

M-21 and his only friend left, M-24, became Union dogs to survive, slowly falling into a pattern or lashing out at those weaker than themselves so they wouldn't feel so powerless. Until one of the most powerful Nobles, Raizel, known as the Noblesse, helped M-21 to awaken his true potential. He found out then that the little bit of power and shapeshifting ability he had was due to the fact his heart had been replaced with that of a werewolf. His last friend died, he was taken in by the Noblesse and his right hand man, Frankenstein (yep, Frankenstein), and proceeds to spend the rest of the series bonding with people, trying to find himself, dealing with whether he's a human or werewolf, and trying to stop other factions from destroying life as they know it. Oh, and being a security guard for a private high school academy run by Frankenstein. He has a big soft spot for dumb, self-sacrificing kids.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: M-21, alias: Mi In-soo
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Faculty
CHARACTER BLURB: Experimented on by a "loosely" designated hunter organization called the Union that is trying to create human weapons to fight against the Supernatural and control various governments and organizations so that they can Rule Everything, from Earth to the Outlands and Beyond. Even if it means using supernatural beings to make those human weapons. Has no memories of his life before waking up as a Union test subject at the South Korean base (or the years he spent being experimented on, as he doesn't know how long he was in a scientifically induced coma). Became an agent working for The Union to survive but lost all of the other comrades he had along the way. Found he did have some ability to shapeshift his body into a stronger, were-type of form that has been gaining in power as time goes on but he has been hiding this from the Union, afraid he'd been dragged back in for more experimentation or even being cut up into specimens for study. Doesn't know what it comes from directly, just assumes it was because of the man who experimented on him doing whatever he did. He turns on the Union with the help of Someone McSomeoneson and who directs him toward Daybreak Academy as a means of hiding and doing something good for once. Signs on to be security personnel and maybe teach some self-defense or "tracking and investigation" class? He wants to do good and learn whatever he can about the names of him and his comrades and what changes are happening to his body.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Maybe someone to point him in the direction of Daybreak? People who know about the Union who would have maybe be involved in his breakout/running away? Other Union survivors who Got The Fuck Out? I'm up for anything.
DESIRED CR: Comrades because all of his would be dead. Kids for him to both be a jerk to and also have the growing urge to keep out of trouble. Fellow assholes he can bicker and fight with. People he can respect and want to seek the approval of, because it's kind of his thing. Other were-peeps who can maybe let him in on the wolf-thing he's got going on.
OTHER: This is how he reacts to being kidnapped, beat up, and interrogated:

He is an asshole trashfire who will talk shit just to see how many times someone will punch him in the face until they wear themselves out. Just to prove he can take it.

Potential Character #2

[personal profile] daebutante 2019-07-28 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
GENERAL INFORMATION

PLAYER NAME: Kathrine
CHARACTER NAME: Evangeline Minet
CANON: Original
BLURB: Young concert pianist who was created by dark mages to be their perfect child from the souls of the damned and one daemon. A proper, polite, and charming lady of means who eats the souls of daemons to survive and is a little bit obsessed about being Loved By Everyone.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Evangeline Minet
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student
CHARACTER BLURB: Evangeline was created by two black mage parents who wanted the "perfect child" by sacrificing the bodies and souls of damned people they had contracted with and a daemon they summoned in a ritual. She was raised to be a polite, charming, respectful young lady of high status in a loving household, despite all the murder and dark magic going on. She is easily offended and scandalized but puts up a very pleasant and unassuming facade in the face of others' Improper Behavior. She is currently working on a burgeoning career as a concert pianist, but worries a lot about being Loved because her parents spoiled her and told her everyone is supposed to like her, so she does a lot to make sure people like her.

Normally, she eats the souls of daemons to survive and for a week or so will take on the powers and some surface memories of the daemon she devoured, but the older and more powerful she has become, the longer these powers and memories last. So she's coming to Daybreak to learn how to manage this as she can't just not eat, but would also not to like...feel like the thing she just ate. "You Are What You Eat" should not be so literal. No worries to any of the daemons on campus, she'd never eat someone who was a member of the community! Think of how impossible it would be to get an A in a class if you ate the teacher? How dreadful.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: She'd be brand new to the school, but some people might have met her parents or heard of them before? They're fairly well-known in the black/dark magic circles for being wealthy, magically powerful and shameless socialites.
DESIRED CR: People she could befriend who would keep her flustered with average teen antics. People she'd secretly be very annoyed with and thus Smile at even more and be Even More Polite to because you're supposed to kill them with kindness. Daemons she could get to know and maybe become friends with. Someone to encourage her to put a pair of pants on.
OTHER:I'm trying to work through my options so here is potential #2.

hey there, a fellow oc player!!! i like both of your choices so far, i think they both have really great potential here. i play all students though so i think i have a better idea of cr i can offer for your oc here.

anastasia here is a student with...the opposite problem of evangeline. she fears not being loved, but also thinks she's unlovable so she fears getting close to other people, LMFAO. i can see these two getting along, at least on surface level, because anastasia is also very polite! i also have ruby rose from RWBY and nadia rizavi from voltron, and both of them could easily fluster evangeline with their antics. nadia in particular is probably more improper, laughs.

GENERAL INFORMATION

PLAYER NAME: Erica
CHARACTER NAME: Jaune Arc
CANON: RWBY
BLURB: Jaune enrolled in Beacon Academy the same year as Ruby and was also made team leader like her. He started out as very untrained and frankly fairly weak, but thanks to the support of his friends and training at school he got better. And then Beacon fell and he lost a truly important person to him. He joined Ruby and his remaining teammates on a quest across Remnant to solve the mysteries behind the fall of Beacon. He’s gotten in over his head several times on that journey, but continues to improve as a fighter and a leader.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Jaune Arc
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student
CHARACTER BLURB: Jaune Arc was nothing to write home about. One of the youngest of a large family and the only male-child, when he was young he was expected to take up the mantle of a Rune Guard like his father and grand-father before him. However, as time passed, it became apparent that Jaune just didn’t have the aptitude for it and resigned himself to a normal, simple life on the farm. He was the weak one, but he had a good head on his shoulders and his family eventually dropped any mention of going into the Rune Guard. Although, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Jaune stopped dreaming of it.

So it was a little surprising to everyone when Jaune showed potential as a Candle. He was a late bloomer, his power not manifesting itself until he was nearly 15, but it flared big when it did. His parents decided pretty quickly that Jaune should transfer to Daybreak, but it wasn’t exactly something he was thrilled about. He doesn’t like to talk about it and feels like he’s grossly behind everyone else in terms of ability and performance, still usually struggling with his abilities.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR:
The Arc Family has several famous members who serve or have served as Rune Guards in the past. They are especially well known for their shield constructs.
Students, since he is 17 and has been attending Daybreak for a few years now? Although, he’s pretty useless and probably has a reputation as being the bullied kid.
DESIRED CR:
Friendships and people to make him feel useful, probably help him build his self-esteem as well.
COMBAT TRAINING...cause Jaune sucks at fighting but is determined to get better
OTHER:
Thinking about giving Jaune a sword/shield as part of the Rune Guard background, it’s from his great-grandfather, but since Rune’s are pretty custom-fit it doesn’t have much of its magical property left. Or so it seems. Jaune is pretty stubborn about getting it to work.
Candle ability will likely be some sort of defense/shield power or maybe healing.
-IDK WHAT I'M DOING?!

GENERAL INFORMATION

PLAYER NAME: Lavvy
CHARACTER NAME: Caim
CANON: Granblue Fantasy
BLURB: Hyperintelligent child born such a smartass that his parents abandoned him for being too irritating to deal with. To fill his edginess quota, his adoptive parents also kill themselves and then he murders his birth parents. Something something the world is too stupid so clearly the answer is to team up with a primal beast and make a new one (by destroying it). Alas, his evil plot is foiled after protag-chan finishes the obligatory 10 billion hour grind to unlock him as a playable character. He didn't actually repent or anything, he just has amnesia now so its TOTALLY fine to give this ex-supervillain ten-year-old a knife and have him stand in the backlines of your adventuring party alongside his ancient magical beast buddy that is also still pacted to him and possibly still wielding world-ending potential, trust me.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Caim
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student, tentatively sitting at around grade 8 because geniuschild got skipped ahead quite a bit

CHARACTER BLURB: Caim was born with insanely-quick learning capabilities due to his Flame manifesting prematurely a short time after his birth. His parents, not wanting to deal with a freaky genius child, dumped him on his grandparents one day and cut off all contact, and a few years later his grandparents also died from stress-related issues. All of this cumulates into a hyperintelligent 6-year-old with self esteem issues where he feels like he has to prove he's 100% faultless and perfect no matter what. From there he got bounced between a few reluctant relatives and/or foster homes while his birth parents continued to deny any sort of contact with him, eventually leading to him being targeted by a pro-Nightfall cult. He "won" a scholarship to some fancy boarding school for despite being like 9, which totally wasn't actually testing for Flame candidates and definitely hadn't also been infiltrated by nefarious cultists.

He was showered with extra attention and gradually introduced to the supernatural while also having it hammered in that yeah his entire family was awful and so is the rest of the world so it's fine if it all, say, got destroyed by an apocalyptic darkness. He took to this mindset well thanks to all the manipulation and was finally introduced to his to-be partner: a powerful fey called the Hanged Man who was part of an elite group of powerful beings known as the Arcarum. The Arcarum wasn't strictly anti-humanity, but they followed an ancient prophecy that claimed Nightfall was good and necessary and thus were working with likeminded organizations to ensure that the apocalypse was a success. Caim forged a pact with the Hanged Man, promising to help the Arcarum in exchange for a peaceful and happy life in the new world.

And so, thanks to a combination of his unaturally-high intelligence and cultists-in-high-places pulling a few strings, he was able to get a scholarship to Daybreak Academy to definitely not enact any evil cultist schemes in the future.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Caim is probably either a brand-new student at Daybreak or transferred in fairly late into the previous year, so he probably doesn't know too many people at the academy yet. He went to a boarding school that sought out Candles before getting sent to Daybreak, though, so other students may have come from the same school! If you're fine with there being some shady dealings with cultists behind closed doors, anyway... but hey, it's not like everyone would get singled out by creepy cultists, right?? Alternatively, his shitty childhood reulted in his getting moved around a lot between relatives, so it's entirely possible someone may have known him briefly during that time.

On the Arcarum side of things, if anyone has/wants connections with weird cults there's always that. It'd be cool if Caim could have some allies within Daybreak

DESIRED CR: Nerds, "friends", people to be incredibly suspicious of this 10yo child, people who will actually make him doubt his goals, etc. I am 100% planning to have him go nuclear later down the road and Do Some Evil so it'd be great to make some friendships along the way so I can crush everyone's hearts mercilessly including my own. Please get attached to this smug child.

Also, the Hanged Man is kind of his own character, though I haven't decided yet how much he's going to be bugging other people when he's supposed to be laying low. He's a big fan of people watching so he'll probably pop into dreams at random or w/e to see what all these interesting folks are up to and generally just be terrible at this whole "laying low" business. He's basically just super nosy and useless and loves it when people struggle with things. Maybe he'll chat up some of the daemons/fey/etc? Maybe he knows some secret thing about your character that they haven't yet realized themselves and he'll be needlessly obtuse about it??? Who knows man hit me up

OTHER: i swear im actually apping this time and i won't spend another 2 months rewriting this AU wheezes a lot

YES HELLO I AM HERE

Anyway, seeing as Moriarty is, well, fucking moriarty, he'd probably cotton onto Caim's shadyness, but...also not say anything because, well, kids need to do their own thing, even if that means doing some evil shit.

THAT ALSO BEING SAID, if given half the chance, he'd absolutely be like 'yes hello child let me dad you now (so whatever you're planning won't be as bad if I do this right)' if you're up for that!

It's only been like 3000 years since the last Missed Opportunity, but MAYBE WE SHOULD DO A THING if we both get in there.

And by a thing I mean Shady New Kid "befriends" Other New Kid, they sort of pal around a bit with Other New Kid not catching on to what Shady New Kid's up to, and then they (and probably other people) have to deal with the aftermath of an Eventual Betrayal if Shady New Kid ultimately decides not to change his course.

Normally I'd be after something more positive but hey what can you do when one half of the equation is is A Problem. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

GENERAL INFORMATION

PLAYER NAME: Doc
CHARACTER NAME: ???? known as Dragonstomper
CANON: Same stupid original universe as Rex
BLURB: A world locked in a constant cycle of demon lords and heroes arising to take them on. Did this.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Probably named something plain like Barry Smith, still known only as Dragonstomper
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: I think its been said that associated hunters would be in sort of a TA/RA position? Something like that.
CHARACTER BLURB: About 15 years ago, an evil scheme from evil daemonic forces went out of their way to evily have dragons (full on dragons, not drakes) destroy humanity. A mysterious man, clad in head to toe in armour and completely silent, beat them all up. He didn't kill a single one, just slapped them around until he resolved the whole thing and revealed the conspiracy. No one knew that was a 15-year-old lad who had accidentally stumbled across the truth and what was he gonna do? Ignore it? Due to suffering from social anxiety he handled the whole thing alone and then went off to be a shepherd in another dimension where no one would speak to him. One tough mother fucker and a master of something he calls Ancient Power, the ability to draw upon the power of nature as if he were a spirit of the land/sea/air himself. People wanted to call him The Dragonslayer but he never actually killed any so... stomper it is.

And now he's here, after 15 years. Either because A) Daybreak deliberately scouted him out with the whole 'seer' thing violating his privacy or B) a mission went wrong and needed his help near his flock and when he was asked to join Daybreak, he couldn't think of a way to say no. So now he's just kinda here, finding it easier to stay then find a way to say he wants to go home without setting off his anxiety.

Doesn't talk much, likes sheep, will not refuse any request. Never takes his helmet off.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: I'd absolutely love for someone to know his whole story and be a big fan of his, so he has to live up to his legend because disappointing someone makes him feel really distressed. Other than that, he's a recluse by nature so unless someone wants to have met him during his teenage adventure. Eh.
DESIRED CR: Basically all I want is for people to think he's cool, or scary, or an unfeeling violence machine or whatever when really he's more scared of you than you are of him. He'll end up having an entirely different identity over the network that's very friendly and talkative, when he doesn't need to worry about making eye contact, so that's probably where he'll end up making most friends.
OTHER:He's named after the first RPG of a console system.

GENERAL INFORMATION

PLAYER NAME: Maple
CHARACTER NAME: Shiro Fujimoto
CANON: Blue Exorcist
BLURB: OKAY QUICK TL;DR TIME: Demon in Blue Exorcist do not have their own bodies in Assiah (the human world). The only way they can exist in the human world is by possessing something. An animal, a human, an object, you get the idea. Most demons want human bodies, but the more powerful a demon is the harder it is for them to possess a body. This is because human bodies cannot contain that much power under normal circumstances, and the bodies start to break down after some time. So Mephisto started a human testing project to use cloning and genetic modification to create 'perfect bodies' for him and his brothers (all the sons of Satan, and some of the most powerful demons in the world) to use as vessels while in the human world. Thousands upon thousands of these children were created to try and make these 'perfect bodies', and those that were not deemed suitable for possession were used for testing until they finally died.

Shiro is one of those clones. He escaped the program as a pre-teen by basically telling Mephisto "Make me your attack dog or whatever, I don't care. I just want out." Mephisto was impressed by Shiro's courage, and took Shiro out of "Section 13" and made him a regular exorcist. The condition on that, however, was that Shiro worked for Mephisto for as long as he lived. There was no leaving the Order. Ever. He was to be an exorcist until the day he died, and he could not back down from any fight.

So basically, Shiro is a shitload of courage and reckless behavior all wrapped up in one package. He also used to be a complete asshole, and he still has some assholish behaviors. But one of his friends/his crush was actually a decent person who put an emphasis on understanding and friendship and giving people a chance, and after she died he started to act more like her, in a "What would Yuri do?" kind of way. So he still is a bit of a jerk, but he tries to temper it by acting in a way his dead friend would approve of. Also raising two half-demon children and being a teacher at an exorcist high school taught him a lot of patience.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Shiro Fujimoto
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Faculty, teaching ranged weapon use (primarily firearms, but he can also do traditional bows and things like grenades in a pinch)
CHARACTER BLURB: His backstory is going to be revamped by a lot. Instead of a cloning project, he's going to have been abandoned as an infant and picked up by a cult that took in orphans and raised them to be used as child sacrifices in rituals. As soon as he realized what was up with the orphanage he lived in (so around 10 or so), he ran away and never looked back. This instilled in him a hate for all supernatural things, since the supernatural is what nearly got him killed/got all the kids he grew up with killed.

After wandering around and surviving on his own for 2 years, he gets picked up by a hunter who sees the hate in him and goes "Why yes, you would make a good hunter. Let me train you." Shiro travels with this hunter from 12 to 18, learning how to be a hunter and taking down many, many supernatural beings. After 18 he works mostly on his own but cooperates with other hunters as he needs to. From about age 18 to 25-ish he gains a reputation as a ruthless killer of the supernatural, someone who shows no mercy.

At 25-ish he starts taking in orphans of daemon attacks and other supernatural occurrences. His original goal was to train up new hunters, but he quickly grows soft because he actually likes being a dad figure to these kids and just wants to raise them to be happy and healthy. Over the next 25 years he settles down and raises kids primarily, with the hunting thing being more of a "on the weekend as needed" kind of thing rather than tirelessly pursuing daemons and vampires and stuff.

During the 'totally a dad' years, he moves away from his "black and white" view of the world. He starts to see that not all supernatural beings are dangerous, and not all humans are good. With the world painted in greys for the first time, Shiro changes his tactics from "kill anything supernatural" to "talk first, attack only if they're a threat". I'm open to having people know him from this time in his life and having helped influence him to reaching this conclusion, since it's not one he would reach on his own without help.

Approximately 5 years before 'current time', Shiro meets a Fey that has taken the form of a cat. He and this cat, named Kuro, become friends. Shiro contracts with Kuro, who in turn helps him with hunting down dangerous supernatural beings.

CURRENT DAY: The last of Shiro's kids have finally graduated high school and moved on to college/work/whatever, and Shiro has become an empty nester. At that point he's not sure what to do with himself, because he's in his 50s and not exactly in the same shape he was when he was in his 20s and used to hunt full time. He hears about the Academy and decides that maybe it's time to actually pass on what he has learned to the next generation, and he gets hired on as a teacher starting in the fall.

As a note, Kuro will be coming along with Shiro for this AU. So most of the time he will have this magic cat that just lazes about, but sometimes the cat will turn big and Shiro will use him as a mighty steed.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Shiro's going to have a rather dark reputation among supernatural communities, thanks to his bloodthirsty past. So anyone knowing him from his days 25-30 years ago and being like "oh shit it's that guy" would be cool. Also rumors to that effect would be fine too.

Also, for older characters, if they want to have encountered Shiro at some point in the past I am cool with this! He traveled a lot for like a decade, so he's been all over and could have potentially run into just about anyone.

And if anyone wants to be one of his adopted kids/a friend of one of his adopted kids, that's an option too! I'm leaving that part open in case anyone from Blue Exorcist decides to app, so they can decide of they know him already or not.
DESIRED CR: He's kind of the "Big Good Mentor" in his canon, so I would like to have that be true here too. I'd like to have him build CR with students through teaching and mentoring them. He has a soft spot for kids, so he tends to give them a lot of leeway too.

On the adult side of things, drinking buddies would be great. Someone to enable his bad behavior (recklessness, pranking people, etc.) would be awesome too. Also, since a lot of the staff is supernatural, I'm okay with people distrusting him at first because of his reputation. He's of the opinion that "Yeah, we probably wouldn't get along, but if you wanna survive the Nightfall then you're gonna need my skills." Begrudging coworkers, especially if they gradually become friends, is some Good Shit.

I would also like to see negative CR too, especially if it's someone who distrusts him/is afraid of him because of who he was in the past. Having him reconcile with his past and try to make up for the things he did would be pretty great. Shiro is very opinionated and doesn't like admitting he's wrong, but I am 100% okay with him butting heads with someone because he doesn't agree with their methods (or vice versa).

ALSO! I'm open to "You killed my parent/friend/someone I knew" situations too. He has a lot of supernatural blood on his hands, so it's bound to happen.
OTHER:My tagging time is sporadic because I work two jobs. Weekends are the best time to catch me, but I'll also try to do at least one round of tags per day when I can.

Let's see - Sherlock might've run into Shiro under one of his many different disguises/alter egos, and would've definitely know of his reputation given his tendency to keep tabs on things.

While Ky's kind of in a weird position where he's a magically inclined human with some weird stuff going on, being relatively new in the modern world would basically treat Shiro without preconceptions, but given he's pretty much a Paladin in personality, they'll likely clash over methods.

GENERAL INFORMATION

PLAYER NAME: Espilan
CHARACTER NAME: Desidera
CANON: Original Canon
BLURB: Irrelevant; while a 'canon' version of Desidera does exist, her AU is basically an entirely new character.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Desidera Neroni
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student, 10th grade.
CHARACTER BLURB: Seventeen years ago there was a Mage who had made a hasty and reckless deal with a Daemon, and rather than gaining any power for herself like she had intended, she instead cursed her then-unborn daughter to be born as something somewhere between Human and Daemon, granting her that power instead.

Sixteen-year-old Desidera is that daughter.

She was initially raised in secret out of concern that her Daemonic traits would mark her as a target for Hunters or other Mage houses, but eventually sent to the academy in the hopes that someone there would be able to teach her how to wield the power she was born with—a task that her mother felt incapable of handling—and also for protection in the event that the Daemon who granted her that power ever tried to come back for her.

Desi loves her mother dearly, but she also really hates the woman for what she did.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: It's not particularly likely that she'll have met any of the academy's other students before, what with the combination of a sheltered upbringing and being new to the academy, but she may have been spotted while getting situated in the days leading up to her first classes. Feel free to assume that your character's seen her at some point during the process of basically moving in, or while she's getting oriented, etc.

DESIRED CR:
■ Desidera absolutely needs friends; she's had very little contact with anyone prior to her arrival at the academy, thanks pretty much entirely to her mother's terrible decisions, and should really do something about that while she has the opportunity.
■ I'm also expecting that some people will treat her the way they would any Contracted, because she technically is, even though her mother's the one that made that contract in the first place. Expect responses from Desidera to be negative when this sort of thing happens; she doesn't think she should be treated as A Problem when it's not her fault she's this way!
■ Ideally, one of the Daemons among the faculty would be the one overseeing her learning how to control her strength/use her power, hopefully without being too bad of an influence on her in the process. If none of the players behind any of them are up for this, though, this bit can probably be handwaved.

OTHER:
■ I've got the basics of her backstory down, and at this point am basically just looking at fleshing things out a little to keep it from being too short.
■ Still working out some of the details on her personality. What's definite so far is she's interested in meeting new people and wants to make friends, but she also has a really hard time letting go of things when she gets offended. Also she actually hates her life. Please help her not hate her life.
■ My availability is 12:30 PM to 3:00 AM (US/Eastern) daily, but I will usually be slower between 3:00 PM and 8:30 PM.

I mean, of course I'd be more than happy to volunteer Valvatorez for lessons about how to control her powers and make them work for her. He's probably the "best" influence among daemons at the school? ...Maybe? ...Kind of?

Either way, I'd also be happy to offer up GV as a friend too. But that one's probably pretty obvious, right?

Therion | Octopath Traveler

[personal profile] bolderfell 2019-08-15 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
GENERAL INFORMATION

PLAYER NAME: Asher
CHARACTER NAME: Therion
CANON: Octopath Traveler
BLURB: A talented enough thief to have stories spun about him (anonymously, of course) throughout the land, Therion finally follows a rumor of treasure too far. A noblewoman's surprisingly nimble butler hands him his cocky butt on a platter, slaps a literal shackle on his wrist, and tells him if he ever wants his new "jewelry" off his arm, he'll have to go out and steal back his mistress's already-stolen goods: the mysterious, definitely magical dragonstones.

Stung by the thorough trouncing, Therion sets out to retrieve the stones so he can have the shackle--which would reveal his profession to anyone who happened to see it--removed as quickly as possible. The adventures and misfortunes that befall him shake his deeply cynical, untrusting worldview, and challenge him to, perhaps, learn to believe in people once more. At the same time, they bring him face to face once more with Darius, the man Therion used to call "partner" before his sudden-but-inevitable betrayal. In between rounds of pick-pocketing, B&E, costumed infiltration, and straight-up highway robbery, Therion must decide if it really is better to trust nothing and no one, or see if there might truly be strength in choosing to believe.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Therion Maybe-I'll-Invent-a-Lastname
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student (Undergrad)
CHARACTER BLURB: Still a thief, still overconfident. Therion began manifesting Fey-like powers at age twelve, which helped him nab what he needed on the streets without getting caught. While trying to harness those powers consciously would cause unpredictable and often harrowing results, Therion found, when he was in a pinch, he could just let the magic--if that's even what it was--happen as it would. Alarms would fail to trigger, guard dogs would merely wuffle in their sleep, angry gazes would pass right over him and let him melt into a crowd; over time and repeated use, he and the magic understood each other well enough that he could slip his hand unnoticed into any pocket and pop just about any lock. Sometimes, it was like he could just blink through things, just a little, though always in subtle enough ways it might have been luck, or skill.

Around the time his powers started cropping up, he fell in with another street kid who became his sole partner in crime. Things got better and better for a while, with Therion's gifts keeping them one step ahead of the bread line giving them an edge over lawkeepers, fellow street toughs, and any manner of trouble they stumbled into, but his partner got progressively more jealous of his talents.

Eventually--say a year or two before now--the two drew enough attention, someone decided to nip trouble in the bud, one way or another. Therion's partner was made an offer they couldn't refuse, and all they were asked in return was to bump Therion off. By that point, they were more than happy to get rid of him, which they did in ridiculously dramatic fashion by villain monologuing, complete with an evil laugh, and shoving him over a cliff.

Probably the only way Therion survived was through the unthinking use of his powers, partially blinking through the stone crags he hit on the way down and lightening some of the impact. Still, his body was pretty hecked up by the time he hit bottom, far beneath the mist. As he lay there, torn up and broken, flickering in and out of consciousness, he also ended up flickering in and out of the Outland Mists. The length of time he spent there, wavering between Earth and the Outlands as much as life and death, not only granted him the strength to cling to life, but strengthened his powers enough that he can slip through the tangible world--to a degree, in little fits and bursts. Just enough to get what he needs. Just enough to get out when he needs to.

Jump-cut to today: Therion's actively thieving once more, though he strictly goes it alone. Like in canon, he overestimates himself and gets caught, but this time, it's by a member of the Rune Guard, or a mage family, or, honestly, I don't even know, it could work so many ways. The shackle that's slapped on him is enchanted so he can't slip through it--not until he properly masters his powers and casts his lot in with those stopping the coming Nightfall.

Hence, he's reluctantly been enrolled in Daybreak Academy. Because letting a half-feral, half-fey thief loose at magic school will definitely never go wrong. Ever.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Therion wouldn't really have had much contact with magic societies at all. That wasn't his world, and a lot of what's normal to Daybreak Academy would be very strange to him. Therion can't even say for sure whether he's a Candle whose powers superficially resemble Feycraft, whether he somehow contracted himself to one of the Fey when he was too young to remember, if he has some Fey ancestry down the line, or whatever. It is a mystery. Also, he doesn't care. (He cares a little.)

However! It would be super easy to say that someone affiliated with whatever group's recruited him has been assigned or asked to keep an eye on him at the Academy. He may have also dodged order-keeping forces like the Rune Guard or targeted the treasures of a mage family in his checkered past.

Also, I wouldn't push for someone to play Therion's ex-partner, but if anyone wants to know them, Therion would certainly pay attention to that.

DESIRED CR: People to steal stupid things from, friends of different strokes to teach him different ways to go about trust, fellow students who won't judge his paltry understanding of magic, or even of himself. Teachers who will let him sulk in the back of class. Warm-hearted types he can try to warn about the world's bitter realities. Fellow cynics who'll loiter around with him, arms crossed, and scoff about how much they don't care, while silently caring a lot. Oh! People he can learn different things from! The heart of Octopath Traveler is letting each character explore different ways of moving through the world, and figuring out the path that's right for them.

GENERAL INFORMATION

PLAYER NAME: Claire
CHARACTER NAME: Violet Evergarden
CANON: Violet Evergarden (TV Anime continuity)
BLURB: Head's up! Violet's canon history unavoidably deals with war, conscription of child soldiers, suicidal ideation and Unpleasant Shit Like That, so whizz past this section if any of that makes you uncomfortable.

Violet is an orphan who was found as a mute and half-feral child in the middle of a warfront by one Dietfried Bougainvillea, of the Leidenschaft army. Upon discovering that she is Really Fucking Good At Murder, Like, Shit, Dude, Dietfried immediately decides he wants none of this shit and yeets Violet over to his brother Gilbert. Gilbert becomes the first person in Violet's life to treat her like An Actual Human, teaching her to read, write and generally doing his best to raise her and Violet, in turn, incredibly attached to him. This ticking time bomb of a situation gets the wick lit on it when Gilbert's superiors take notice of Violet being Really Fucking Good At Murder, Like, Shit, Dude and have her enlisted to fight on the front lines with Gilbert as her handler.

Violet spends most of the rest of the war being Really Fucking Good At etc. and Gilbert gradually falls apart from the guilt of being forced to use the girl who is essentially his adopted daughter as a weapon of war. This comes to a head when he and Violet are assigned to a potentially war-ending operation that puts the two directly in the enemy lines. The battle is won, but in the process, Violet loses both of her arms and Gilbert is killed, telling Violet with his last words that he loves her – but Violet, having lived the life that she has, literally cannot understand what the word "love" even means. Afterwards, Violet spends about a half-year or so in the hospital, recovering physically and getting her arms replaced by a pair of FMA-ass metal prosthetics that serve all the functions of her missing limbs, hands included. Quite importantly, she is not yet aware of Gilbert's death as no one knows how to break the news to her. She's released into the custody of ex-solider Claudia Hodgins, who ends up more-or-less adopting her and offering her a job and a place to feel useful at the CH Postal Company, a letter-writing and delivery business he has established to meet the needs of the population following the war.

Violet initially struggles to settle in to any one job, but by chance ends up accidentally watching over a job taken out by one of the company's Auto Memoir Dolls (basically an Emotional Support Ghostwriter) who is able to intuit from the twitterpated customer that he wishes to confess his love to the woman he's addressing. Wanting desperately to understand the meaning of the words "I love you" Violet begs Hodgins to allow her to work as an Auto Memoir Doll. Recognizing that this is the first and only thing that Violet has ever requested of her own will, he agrees to let her do so.

Violet has an incredibly rocky start and is initially discouraged almost to the point of giving up, but after writing a letter for her very first friend, she is able to properly convey a message for someone else and from there, Violet's letter writing skills improve in leaps and bounds, even if her personal progress is somewhat less smooth. She eventually becomes incredibly famous as an Auto Memoir Doll and dealing so close with other people's feelings allows Violet to see herself in their stories and understand herself better. However, that progress also comes with it a more thorough understanding of Violet's own history of pain and atrocities during the war and she gradually becomes overwhelmed by the guilt of what she's done.

Shit absolutely pops off when Violet inadvertently discovers at basically the worst possible time that Gilbert is dead. This leads to Violet having an enormous breakdown and very nearly giving up on not just being a Doll but on living altogether. Gently encouraged by her new family at the C.H. Postal Company, however, Violet is slowly able to take tottering steps towards processing her grief and moving past it. Remembering the reason she began her work in the first place and reflecting on how far she's come prompts Violet to pose Hodgins with a question: is it truly alright for her to be an Auto Memoir Doll, after all the pain and suffering she's caused? Or, more importantly, is it alright for her to even live at all? Hodgins, who has been struggling with the same questions himself, eventually responds that her actions as a soldier cannot ever be erased, neither can the sincere good that she does now as an Auto Memoir Doll. Violet takes these words to heart and decides that this is enough for her to be satisfied with, and is finally able to move past the grief of Gilbert's death and begin moving on into a life without him.

i swear to god no matter how much that sounds like a finale, there's still like four fuckng episodes left but like. it's basically the end of her character arc and this is already SO LONG even though it's supposed to be a blurb i'M SORRY

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Violet Evergarden
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student
CHARACTER BLURB: a "short" blurb it's cute the mods have so much faith in me. also this lil blurb has some mentions of Therion ([personal profile] bolderfell) with his player's permission since we've been bashing out ideas together.

In Violet's AU history, the Bougainvilleas are an old-ish family of hunters and mages in Germany who stumble across Violet, just as mute and half-feral as canon, in the Outland Mists and promptly get her the hell out of there. They are able to establish that she is... probably half-fey, or at least has powers resembling feycraft that manifest in a sort of magical hypersensitivity that gives her heightened senses and reflexes as well as a healthy dollop of involuntary empathy. So like, Feelings, But Too Much. For a time, she's entrusted to Gilbert who, as in canon, begins to raise Violet as his surrogate daughter, teaching her how to speak, read and helping her to get a better hang on her powers.

Eventually, the Bougainvilleas sort of split into two factions: one side that wants to continue raising Violet as a normal girl and adopting her formally and another side who recognize her potential as a Hunter and want to turn her into a tool to use against magical creatures. As you might imagine, Gilbert doesn't exactly cotton to that shit and starts quietly planning behind the scenes to extract both of them from the Bougainvillea family and live a new life elsewhere.

Unfortunately, on their attempt to escape from the Bougainvilleas, they're essentially ambushed by a few members of the faction who kind of really want to use the actual child as a weapon and have decided they'd rather not have Violet sent out into the world where they don't have control over her. This results in a car wreck that kills everyone involved except Violet, who loses both of her arms.

Like in canon, she is sent to the hospital to recover and have her arms replaced with her FMA-ass prosthetics and eventually released into the care of Claudia Hodgins, an old friend of Gilbert's. He runs the C.H. Postal Company, an organization that handles confidential and sensitive information for magic uses who cannot or don't want to use more mundane correspondence. Violet is officially adopted by Hodgins at age ten and then spends the next eight years or so being raised by him (and basically the entirety C.H. Postal Company's staff, who all love her). Since she isn't really well-equipped to handle regular schooling, Violet is homeschooled at the company and gradually begins doing odd jobs for them, before being more-or-less officially hired as a deliverygirl for them.

It's during one of these deliveries (to none other than Gilbert's brother, in fact) that she manages to thwart an attempted robbery of her goods. The thief, a young man named Therion (HI ASHER) is sort-of-kind-of civilian arrested by Dietfried, but Hodgins is able to talk him down from yeeting Therion into jail. It's eventually agreed that he'll be sent to Daybreak Academy instead and Violet surprises everyone by asking to go as well. Therion is the first Candle she's ever met and she sees this as her only avenue to properly learn about her powers, which is something she's always desperately wanted. Recognizing that this is the first thing Violet has ever been truly passionate about, Hodgins agrees to let her go and she is sort of unofficially tasked with being Therion's babysitter while they attend Daybreak.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Violet's AU history gives her some pretty varied connections – to the Bougainvilleas, an old Hunter family and to the C.H. Postal Company who have their thumbs in all sorts of magical pies. Because of this, it's likely characters might know about these organizations but it's likely they wouldn't personally be involved or know Violet herself – but I'm totally happy for that to be the case! I think it'd be super fascinating for her to be in school with one of the Bougainvilleas or to have a friendly face from C.H. Postal around.
DESIRED CR: Violet is a lot less of a mess than her canon self, but she's still kind of a Sad, Weird Kid so I'd love for her to make some boisterous friends who'll help her have some proper fun. Some mentor types to help get her settled would be nice, too. Playing Violet in this kind of AU is very new to me so I'm honestly happy to wing it!
OTHER:

But more seriously: I've ballparked Violet's AU age to 18 for now, but I'm probably going to knock that down a year or two, depending on how things shake out. I just think her canon age of 14 is the most LOL ANIME thing ever and it's dumb and i wILL FIX IT

GENERAL INFORMATION

PLAYER NAME: Avery
CHARACTER NAME: Olivia "Liv" Moore
CANON: Original, but from the same world as Lia!
BLURB: Slightly tsundere magical girl who can see the future. She's shouty and fighty and totally doesn't have any sort of complex over occasionally seeing terrible things she can't stop. It's fine, she's fine, don't worry about it.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Olivia "Liv" Moore
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student, 11th grade.
CHARACTER BLURB: -Liv was a mostly normal girl, up until the development of her Flame a couple years ago. Her Flame came on abruptly, giving her a handful of powers she struggled to control.
-The hardest ability to control was the ability to see the future, which is still constantly developing. It started as being something that only worked when "activated", only giving her knowledge of what was going to happen in the immediate future.
-This was incredibly helpful when she joined a group of hunters known as the Peacekeepers, as it gave her an advantage. She quickly became one of the most prolific members of the group.
-But remember how I said her ability is constantly developing? It's now reached the point where she's getting glimpses of things that are happening months or even years into the future, at random intervals. (It's entirely possible she's gotten visions of some of the big stuff from the Cassandra upload, like the Herald/Xelvak.)
-She recently saw a vision of Lia, which is what spurred her to enroll in Daybreak. She doesn't want bad things happening to one of her friends, and she's tired of just letting things happen the way she sees them happening.
-Also she's very bad at feelings but at this point I feel like that's a given with any character I bring in to the game.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Anyone tied to the Peacekeepers! Or who's familiar with the group! Or maybe some online friends?? Liv spends a lot of her downtime fucking around on the computer, so friends from games or other avenues would be gr8.
DESIRED CR: Anything and everything! She's kind of aggressive and tsun so people she can butt heads with or begrudgingly care about would be great. Other seers who can give her some help with coping with the visions would be great too! Basically, I'm flexible.
OTHER:I don't know if I'll go through with her RIGHT NOW but I want to bounce ideas around!!

GENERAL INFORMATION

PLAYER NAME: Usagi
CHARACTER NAME: Jonathan Joestar
CANON: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
BLURB: Local Buff Gentleman too nice to realize just How Bad adopted brother is until he becomes a vampire in front of him and kills many- unlocks the power of Breathing with a cool italian's help and fights zombies with them and a Cool Speedwagon.

Also he dies in the end and his descendants have crazy adventures while being gremlins the end.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Jonathan Joestar
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: S...STUD..ENT...
CHARACTER BLURB: Hey yknow that One Guy who started it all?? Jolyne's ancestor?? HERE HE IS

'But how!' you may ask! 'He was super dead! Also a vampire stole his body! And now that VAMPIRE is ALSO super dead!'

The answer, in true Jojo fashion, is Incredibly Dumb.

But apparently not That dumb because boy has Weirder and Dumber definitely happened in this series.

So ultimately this was hashed out alongside Jolyne's player but it's definitely open to change and suggestion. In essence though, all of the canon garbage about dying...Definitely happens. What Also happens is...well.

Jonathan's kind of...Haunting his own body to a point. After he dies he's not aware of it at all. The most he really does is unintentionally trigger all of that stands and connections nonsense that happens in Stardust Crusaders. One would think that with Dio's death, he'd get to move on!

But no because if that were how we were doing things he wouldn't Be here. Instead a very consciousness deprived ghost gets shunted off into the nearest living thing that'll take him.

Which in this case is one of the local wildlife.

Right now we're going with a fruit bat. Because they're local and cool and also it's mildly ironic.

As it is, give a few years for Jonathan Proper to re-sort himself and Actually realize whats what, and the Speedwagon Foundation gets to track down a Hamon-Wielding Bat and be Super Surprised.

A little More time to get things sorted there and he gets shipped off to Daybreak by some anonymous request, so he can sort himself out and research things in something other than a shitty bunker.

And maybe of course do some...babysitting, not that he's aware of that...

He Talks by the way.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Jonathan was originally from 1888! He died in February of 1889! He also had like, a year of time doing the zombie killing thing at most it was all very flash in the pan- though the Hamon masters of Tibet got involved and the Speedwagon Foundation came from his friend Speedwagon after this, so there...Is a relatively good chance of word of mouth stuff?
DESIRED CR: Baffle him with your modern nonsense kids
OTHER: dear golden wind thank you for giving me this dumb idea without it Jonathan was going to be a sad zombie head

THAT SAID there is one disclaimer and that is that while Very Likely to happen I do want to wait until around October/November before giving an official app a shot- this is because I also intend to bring Jonathan to Ryslig, and want to make sure I can handle the tag load! (Though I will likely hit the TDM up before then)

GENERAL INFORMATION

PLAYER NAME: Espilan
CHARACTER NAME: Raelyn
CANON: Dungeon Fighter Online/OC; she's a MOG PC.
BLURB: A mage from a post-apocalyptic schizo-tech fantasy world which is actually post-apocalyptic New York City except there's magic and stuff, and also it's no longer part of Earth because science somehow did an awful way back before the events of the game and kind of unintentionally sent the whole city hurtling through dimensions and picking up various kinds of magical bullshit along the way.

Raelyn was transported into another world (one that's more just straight fantasy) in order to help find ways to restore her home to what it once was. She took up adventuring and helping people as a way of conducting her search, reasoning that she could get information from the people she helped, but she got a little over-invested in this other world and now largely focuses on doing good in it with her original goals becoming secondary, at least for the time being. She also had decided relatively early in her adventuring career that she needed to work on becoming less squishy, and in order to accomplish this, she learned to use a spear and changed up how she used her magic so it could act as a supplement to that, shifting from being a typical mage to more of a battle mage. Then she discovered that she really likes beating the snot out of people or things that deserve it, so now she helps people violently.

Also she's unknowingly part of a plot to destroy the very world that she was sent to.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Raelyn
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student, could possibly be in 10th, but probably actually in 8th or 9th because reasons.

CHARACTER BLURB:
Raelyn is a girl from an Outland community that was, at some point in the past, originally a group of ordinary humans from Earth. Having spent multiple generations in the Outlands has changed them to something a bit different, with the more-recent generations showing obvious inhuman traits and a natural talent for magic (particularly fire/ice/light/shadow). The events that led to them residing in the Outlands occurred so long ago that none that are alive now know for sure how long they've actually been out there or even why they came to call it their home in the first place.

The community as a whole is mostly women with some men, and they live under the watchful eye of a Daemon known to them as Hilder. Hilder is seen as something of an oddity at large, treating the community well and even aiding it personally when necessary, and notably, none of the community's members are actually contracted to her. (One of the adults, Kate, is contracted to a Daemon, but that Daemon is not Hilder.) Hilder is aware of the fact that Earth is preparing for Nightfall but lacks knowledge on how exactly they plan to deal with it, and while it's not in her interest, she considers it to be in the community's best interest to see Nightfall stopped in order to save the world that they used to call home. With that goal in mind, she sends Raelyn to Earth, intending for the girl to be her eyes and see just how its people intend to face their impending doom, so she can determine if—or how—she should intervene. Except, currently unknown to anyone but herself, Hilder actually wants Nightfall to succeed. An unknowing Raelyn is to be her tool for helping to make sure that it does, and the mental connection that Hilder uses for Rae to serve as her eyes could be used to plant suggestions toward that end.

Raelyn spends some time wandering after being sent to Earth, probably occasionally getting really confused or mad at language barriers (she knows English thanks to her community's forgotten origins, plus a few common Outland languages, including a fair bit of Daemonic to facilitate easier communication with Hilder, and nothing beyond that), and helping some of the people whose paths she crosses, some of these being for mundane tasks and others being more along the lines of actual hunter-type work. Then she ends up stumbling into Daybreak somehow (maybe directed to it by someone? or she crossed paths with someone from Daybreak and they asked her to come with them). This is either the best possible thing to happen because it gives her the best chance to escape the fate that she's still unaware of, or the worst thing because it would also enable Hilder to do some really serious damage if she wants to.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR:
• It is possible that anybody that's spent any significant amount of time in the Outlands within the past 16 years could have met Raelyn at some point. Anyone that met her when she was younger would probably remember the girl who constantly played with a little shadow-kitten named Pluto. Anyone that met her closer to the present would remember a more-serious Rae, and would recall either her practicing the use of her innate magic, or training under one of the adults—a woman named Niu—in order to learn how to wield a spear. The reasons for her practice or learning the spear were so she could help defend her home if she needed to; the Outlands aren't exactly safe, after all. (I'm totally OK with anyone she'd met in this way being more than simple acquaintances, too; if they'd been out there long enough and you want your character to have been friends with her during that time? Sure, let's heckin' do it!)
• Possibly people she met and/or helped during her bit of wandering prior to arriving at the Academy? ...though this would probably be limited to other more-recent arrivals, or people who frequently spend time elsewhere.
• Other than that, Rae probably wouldn't know anyone, though she might have heard of some of them, particularly if they had a reputation in the Outlands.

DESIRED CR:
• Friends, rivals, people to worry about/be worried about by, people to get mad at, tbh anything goes. I want the reveal later to hurt.
• Rae has never actually been to Earth before now. Someone please take her aside and teach her literally anything.
• She will definitely need somebody that would be willing to either 1) tie her the fuck down, or 2) help her somehow break free when Hilder starts actually messing with her head.
