SEPTEMBER AU PLANNING
Log Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation
Welcome to the September AU Planning Meme for Daybreak Academy! This post is intended to help prospective players plot their AU and figure out who their characters are in this setting and where they want to go, as well as work together with other players to plan future CR, build Secret Societies and Clubs, and generally determine where they want to start their characters, and where they want them to go. In addition to posting up the form, you are encouraged to tag around to other people's forms and discuss potential CR and plans with them. This post is an open forum for all prospective players to hash out interesting ideas for their characters ahead of joining the game.
Not sure where to start? Feel free to look through the Premise and FAQ for notes on what the game is about, and what to expect. We also encourage you to take a look at our information for in-setting Powers and Secret Societies to help flesh out your character's backstory.
Please note, simply posting here is not enough to guarantee your spot in the game. If you are interested in playing a character, you will want to Reserve them.

Same disclaimer I made then still applies; I probably won't be going through with this anytime super soon, but still wanna try to get some things hashed out for when I do go for it.
PLAYER NAME: Espilan
CHARACTER NAME: Raelyn
CANON: Dungeon Fighter Online/OC; she's a MOG PC.
BLURB: A mage from a post-apocalyptic schizo-tech fantasy world which is actually post-apocalyptic New York City except there's magic and stuff, and also it's no longer part of Earth because science somehow did an awful way back before the events of the game and kind of unintentionally sent the whole city hurtling through dimensions and picking up various kinds of magical bullshit along the way.
Raelyn was transported into another world (one that's more just straight fantasy) in order to help find ways to restore her home to what it once was. She took up adventuring and helping people as a way of conducting her search, reasoning that she could get information from the people she helped, but she got a little over-invested in this other world and now largely focuses on doing good in it with her original goals becoming secondary, at least for the time being. She also had decided relatively early in her adventuring career that she needed to work on becoming less squishy, and in order to accomplish this, she learned to use a spear and changed up how she used her magic so it could act as a supplement to that, shifting from being a typical mage to more of a battle mage. Then she discovered that she really likes beating the snot out of people or things that deserve it, so now she helps people violently.
Also she's unknowingly part of a plot to destroy the very world that she was sent to.
AU INFORMATION
CHARACTER AU NAME: Raelyn
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student, could possibly be in 10th, but probably actually in 8th or 9th because reasons.
CHARACTER BLURB:
Raelyn is a girl from an Outland community that was, at some point in the past, originally a group of ordinary humans from Earth. Having spent multiple generations in the Outlands has changed them to something a bit different, with the more-recent generations showing obvious inhuman traits and a natural talent for magic (particularly fire/ice/light/shadow). The events that led to them residing in the Outlands occurred so long ago that none that are alive now know for sure how long they've actually been out there or even why they came to call it their home in the first place.
The community as a whole is mostly women with some men, and they live under the watchful eye of a Daemon known to them as Hilder. Hilder is seen as something of an oddity at large, treating the community well and even aiding it personally when necessary, and notably, none of the community's members are actually contracted to her. (One of the adults, Kate, is contracted to a Daemon, but that Daemon is not Hilder.) Hilder is aware of the fact that Earth is preparing for Nightfall but lacks knowledge on how exactly they plan to deal with it, and while it's not in her interest, she considers it to be in the community's best interest to see Nightfall stopped in order to save the world that they used to call home. With that goal in mind, she sends Raelyn to Earth, intending for the girl to be her eyes and see just how its people intend to face their impending doom, so she can determine if—or how—she should intervene. Except, currently unknown to anyone but herself, Hilder actually wants Nightfall to succeed. An unknowing Raelyn is to be her tool for helping to make sure that it does, and the mental connection that Hilder uses for Rae to serve as her eyes could be used to plant suggestions toward that end.
Raelyn spends some time wandering after being sent to Earth, probably occasionally getting really confused or mad at language barriers (she knows English thanks to her community's forgotten origins, plus a few common Outland languages, including a fair bit of Daemonic to facilitate easier communication with Hilder, and nothing beyond that), and helping some of the people whose paths she crosses, some of these being for mundane tasks and others being more along the lines of actual hunter-type work. Then she ends up stumbling into Daybreak somehow (maybe directed to it by someone? or she crossed paths with someone from Daybreak and they asked her to come with them). This is either the best possible thing to happen because it gives her the best chance to escape the fate that she's still unaware of, or the worst thing because it would also enable Hilder to do some really serious damage if she wants to.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR:
• It is possible that anybody that's spent any significant amount of time in the Outlands within the past 16 years could have met Raelyn at some point. Anyone that met her when she was younger would probably remember the girl who constantly played with a little shadow-kitten named Pluto. Anyone that met her closer to the present would remember a more-serious Rae, and would recall either her practicing the use of her innate magic, or training under one of the adults—a woman named Niu—in order to learn how to wield a spear. The reasons for her practice or learning the spear were so she could help defend her home if she needed to; the Outlands aren't exactly safe, after all. (I'm totally OK with anyone she'd met in this way being more than simple acquaintances, too; if they'd been out there long enough and you want your character to have been friends with her during that time? Sure, let's heckin' do it!)
• Possibly people she met and/or helped during her bit of wandering prior to arriving at the Academy? ...though this would probably be limited to other more-recent arrivals, or people who frequently spend time elsewhere.
• Other than that, Rae probably wouldn't know anyone, though she might have heard of some of them, particularly if they had a reputation in the Outlands.
DESIRED CR:
• Friends, rivals, people to worry about/be worried about by, people to get mad at, tbh anything goes. I want the reveal later to hurt.
• Rae has never actually been to Earth before now. Someone please take her aside and teach her literally anything.
• She will definitely need somebody that would be willing to either 1) tie her the fuck down, or 2) help her somehow break free when Hilder starts actually messing with her head.

Touma Hashiba | Yoroiden Samurai Troopers
PLAYER NAME: Sailor G
CHARACTER NAME: Touma Hashiba
CANON: Yoroiden Samurai Troopers
BLURB: An ancient mystical armor was broken into nine pieces and scattered across the world to stop a demon called Arago from using it to conquer all. A latch key kid genius with divorced parents, Touma was given the armor of Tenku and used it to defend Earth and humanity from the demon. After Arago's defeat, Touma continues to work with the other armor bearers, most notably the other four who, with him, can combine their powers to create the Shiroi Kikoutei (White Armor). They keep their powers and armors for several years, attempting to live normal lives around various supernatural threats.
AU INFORMATION
CHARACTER AU NAME: Touma Hashiba
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student
CHARACTER BLURB: Touma is a young genius, the only son of a brilliant scientist investigating the Nightfall, Outlands, and Flames. His mother is a performer and travels often, having divorced his father when the boy was young... at Touma's own suggestion. Being smart can sometimes have its disadvantages, and Touma figured out his parents were miserable together. His mother occasionally comes home to visit, but, for the most part, Touma lives alone with his dad... though he rarely sees him. Being on his own most of the time, Touma found that he was also interested in the things his father was studying, and he began his own investigations in his spare time. The last thing he expected was to come across a group of Mages attempting to summon and Contract a Daemon for their own gains. The daemon was Tenku. Unbeknownst to Touma, the Daemon had actually been watching the Hashiba's in their studies, and had taken particular interest in Touma. When the Mages discovered Touma watching their ritual, they captured him and had planned on sacrificing him to the Daemon. Tenku refused and, much to the Mages dismay, offered his contract to Touma. Desperate and scared, the young pre-teen knew he was in over his head and had no other choice. He accepted, knowing it would at least prolong his life if he was granted powers to escape. What he later discovered was that Tenku was part of a small group of rare Daemons attempting to thwart a much larger and much more evil Daemon, Arago, from attempting to accelerate Nightfall. In order to do this, however, they needed Contracted humans.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Touma's going to likely be in honors classes, but still skimming by. He's kind of lazy, and tends to sleep a lot because he has low blood pressure and often stays up late. He likes puzzle and strategy games, reading mysteries, and baseball. He's a huge sweet tooth and has a huge appetite. He doesn't make friends easily, though, so I'm definitely up for having a few study buddies and gaming club mates... stuff like that. Maybe a small group of close friends to start (four or five at most).
DESIRED CR: Touma will need to get out of his shell and learn to make friends. So he'll need people who are patient with his tendency to be a nerd. He's also surprisingly athletic for a nerd, so if anyone wants to play a bit of ball with him, please do. If there are any other baseball fans in the school, having someone be a fan of a rival team to the one Touma likes would be great.
OTHER: Sorry, Shin... Touma didn't mean to piss you off.

Seiji needs you Touma. But also I want to throw Sarona at him. She will slap a health rune on you Touma to wake you up. Don't sleep in class. It makes other kids think they can slack off and they don't all have your brains. :|

OTHER: Playing an OC is new for me so go easy, also it means I don't have a solid gifset for her... so I went with this!

PLAYER NAME: Quinn
CHARACTER NAME: Matthew Holt
CANON: Voltron: Legendary Defender
BLURB: Matt's an astronaut and scientist who wanted to explore and discover new things in space. What he got was captured and enslaved for his trouble. He becomes a leader of rebels, fakes his death and eventually finds his family again and helps save Earth from a bunch of imperialistic assholes.
Voltron is a science fiction canon with flying robot lions and a shiny blue force that binds the universe together. Matt's part of it is fairly small, but he loves his science and his space, and he's able to make a difference in spite of everything.
AU INFORMATION
CHARACTER AU NAME: Matthew Holt
STUDENT OR FACULTY: TA in Runes and/or science. Possibly also an RA.
CHARACTER BLURB: Matt was part of a prominent mission to the Outland to study the effect of runic objects on the innate magic of the area. He and his father were lost. Only recently did he come back from the Outland, scarred, but very much alive. He won't talk much about his experiences, at least for now.
He's part of the Garrison of the Rune Guard, and he's one of the brightest and best students of Runic Inscriptions that's been seen in years. He's also enthusiastic as hell about his craft, and will absolutely talk your ear off if you'll let him.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: People who knew him before the mission, and who would be wierded out by him coming back.
DESIRED CR: I am 100% open for anything! Friends, people who are dubious about him coming back, kids to mentor, anything!
OTHER: He's a good hobo. Be nice to him.
no subject
Okay, so if you wanted more canon parallels, maybe the Galra (who are an Outlands lycan clan) could have abducted Sam and Matt while they were out exploring the Outlands during their mission. Not that this gives any real foundation for established CR between Keith and Matt but MAYBE it could be interesting for them to both kinda deal with when they both figure out Keith's also Galra.

.... V incidentally has also been in the Outlands for years so if that's something that could possibly be interesting, there's that.

PLAYER NAME: Jon
CHARACTER NAME: Eclipsa Butterfly
CANON: Star vs. The Forces of Evil
BLURB: A former queen of Mewni who abdicated the throne and married a monster. Was properly sealed away in a crystal and believed to be super evil. Though selfish and packing questionable morals, she is ultimately trying to do a good job now that the Queendom is in her hands once more.
AU INFORMATION
CHARACTER AU NAME: Eclipsa Butterfly
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Faculty
CHARACTER BLURB:
Born into a relatively influential mage family known for their expertise in hunting monsters. Her mother, the former leader of the clan, died while she was young. She was raised by servants and what family members could be bothered, but she never really felt any attachment to them after the death of her mother. Eclipsa was taught the ways of magic and, when she became old enough, was given two artifacts that had been passed down her family for generations: a magic wand and a spell book containing every spell ever created by the Butterfly Clan. Over time her affinity with magic grew and she was labelled a genius by the clan, but she found herself increasingly dissatisfied with her lot in life. For one thing, she'd grown fond of the monsters who they were supposed to kill. Many, she'd found, were not nearly as horrible as the clan had initially led her (and others) to believe.
Although she spent some time leading the clan and making reforms, the elder members fought her every which way. The final straw, however, was when they tried to force her into an arranged marriage for the betterment of the clan. In retaliation, she took the wand and fled to Daybreak. She'd heard about the school years earlier and had decent relations with some of the staff there, so it seemed like a logical course of action.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Fellow mage friends, people she met during her travels or during her guest visits to Daybreak, people who know of the Butterfly Clan and don't like their ways, people who've heard the bad rumors from said clan and don't trust her, etc.
DESIRED CR: Fellow morally gray types, students for her to dote over, kids who need advice, faculty to make friends with, etc. Honestly I'm open to ALL the CR.
OTHER:
She's really good at playing the guitar. Music club, maybe?

or at least Someone She Might Be Vaguely Acquainted With considering House Gehring's whole thing, depending on how recently she came to Daybreak

PLAYER NAME: Star
CHARACTER NAME:Lydia
CANON: The Adventure Zone: Balance
BLURB: One half of a pair of asshole liches that more or less create a labyrinthian game show version of Wonderland. Takes a lot of shit from a lot of people. Are kind of dicks. They kinda get murdered later, it's fine. She's fine. It's not like they tried to become gods in the god realm or whatever later, of course not, live shows aren't canon.
AU INFORMATION
CHARACTER AU NAME: Still just Lydia
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: No one is letting her near faculty ever, so she'd probably be a grad-student, maybe a TA if someone thinks she knows anything ever.
CHARACTER BLURB:
Kinda the same as canon, hilariously.
- Her particular kind of elf is pretty Outlands exclusive
- So basically her mom was kinda ousted from the elf group they were from for a Lot of reasons
- She kinda ended up pregnant from some other outcasted elf dude who fucked off like immediately
- Lydia and her twin brother kinda born
- Raised by a pretty terrible mother, oops
- Has another son later down the line and gets sick
- Kinda dies, leaving Lydia and Edward to raise their little brother Keats
- Use their pretty inherent illusion magic to hustle people in the Outlands and in the human realm (traveling ain't a big deal what)
- Keats kinda gets sick, oops with the same thing that killed their mom
- No hope there, kinda get into a necromantic cult and learn a Lot of Shit
- Still don't work, he die
- MAYBE BRING BACK THE DEAD????
- Don't work
- Well, fuck it, they don't want to lose each other so they become liches which no one in that cult has managed to do before oops
- Get run out from that cult because Why The Fuck Can They Do It?
- Kinda fuck off out of the Outlands and realize they need to feed on Something
- Love don't do shit, need something stronger. Suffering works real well.
- We won't talk about that One Place that lasted for a bit that evidently tormented people.
- INTERNET COMES AROUND AND GUESS WHAT IDIOTS FIND IT
- Apparently trolling people on the Internet and pissing them off works real well too somehow????
- Guess who also are stupid good at this human voguing shit and are popular Youtubers for that on top of people absolute dickweeds? It them.
- You know people hate liches? So she more or less took a deal from the school for security purposes. Promises to behave as much as she can.
- Having someone around who knows a Thing or Two about necromancy and illusion magic probably isn't a bad idea actually???
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Hey, anyone that might have heard about her and Edward's dickbaggery with AU Wonderland a good number of years ago. Or people who have run into her at weird balls and dance competitions. Or, you know, you're big on That Section of Youtube.
Mage friends would be kinda cool, too, since that's what she kind of is.
DESIRED CR: MAGES???? MAGICAL APPRENTICES??? Come learn necromancy from a not teacher, it's fine. It'll be fine. Open to all kinds of other shit, somehow this one is more hatable than Jolyne and I'm sorry. At least Jolyne has redeeming features.
OTHER:I'm not sorry for what I did.

PLAYER NAME: Star
CHARACTER NAME: Tamaki Suou
CANON: Ouran High School Host Club
BLURB: Stupid rich school filled with stupid rich kids, this ding dong decides it's a great idea to make a host club to amuse bored girls. Kind of gets wrapped up in a whole weird ordeal with a girl who gets mistaken as a guy and brought into their little club. Something something deviation between anime and manga with how that relationship kinda goes.
Tamaki's kind of an idiot, it's fine.
AU INFORMATION
CHARACTER AU NAME: Same as canon
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student, holy shit
CHARACTER BLURB: His backstory is about the same as canon re: his existence and the whole ordeal with his mother and moving places. HE'LL BE PRETTY STOKED ABOUT COMING BACK TO FRANCE, ACTUALLY.
So basically he'd been training and going to regular school by his Japanese side of the family as they're all a pretty prestigious mage clan as well as businessmen in various capabilities. But of course, Tamaki being Tamaki, has other stupid frivolous nonsense he wants to do instead. Which leads him more towards taking a keen interest in the illusion side of things and using it for his club at his school at the time which does a great job of convincing people to his ridiculous cause or whatever?
Of course with Nightfall being a Thing and his grandmother Very Clearly wanting them to be involved for totally not prestige purposes, he's being shipped from his place in Japan (and his friends, dammit) to Daybreak to learn something actually useful.
Needless to say, he's going to be getting into a lot of dumb shenanigans. Maybe bring the club to France, who knows.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Hey, other mage families might be kinda cool since they're kind of a Big Deal in Japan at least. Or I guess people involved in Japan's business scene might recognize his last name, too.
DESIRED CR: PEOPLE TO HELP WITH HIS STUPID SHENANIGANS, LET THE BOY LIVE.

PLAYER NAME: Eric
CHARACTER NAME: Leander Smith/Hubert Green
CANON: Original
BLURB: "Chrono Valor" was a table top RPG campaign heavily inspired by the game Chrono Trigger, and was about 5 heroes from across history getting magic keys that let them travel through time so they could work together to defeat Chronos, a time devouring god. Leander Smith was a traveling card shark/gunslinger/con artist from the 1880s who had run away from his stupendously rich family because he was bored and wanted to have an adventure!. His real name (because it's not Chrono Trigger unless some people are going by fake names) was Hubert Green.
AU INFORMATION
CHARACTER AU NAME: Leander Smith/Hubert Green
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student
CHARACTER BLURB: The title "Defender of Time" is granted to one individual, a hero dedicated to defending the Earth from the very gravest of dangers and granted immortality in return. Leander inherited this power from a viking woman named Saga who, after 1100 years, had decided she wanted to retire and passed the power on. He now sleeps away entire decades, waking up whenever the Earth is in sufficient peril to fight back. He's something of a fish out of water, having been born in the 1860s.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Leander wakes up every 20-30 years to deal with various cults that want to destroy the earth, slumbering gods that are starting to wake up, demonic hordes threatening to invade, and other such menacing problems. Then he takes a few years of vacation before going back to sleep. As such, in theory anyone could have met Leander at any time within the last 140~ years and might be like "Why are you still alive???"
DESIRED CR: People who like to gamble and/or cheat at gambling to have high stakes poker games with. People who are super old to know Leander from way back when. People who are super rich and/or well educated for Leander to be like "haha look at all these pleds" with. Whatever else you've got.

CHARACTER NAME: Lena "Tracer" Oxton
CANON: Overwatch
BLURB: Cheery British fighter pilot gets caught in a malfunctioning prototype teleporter, unsticking her from time and giving her super powers. She goes on to join Overwatc, a world defending super hero organization, until it gets shut down, then spends a few years retired before finding out someone is getting the band back together and decided to go vigilante to fight the forces of evil from spreading chaos in her world.
AU INFORMATION
CHARACTER AU NAME: Lena "Tracer" Oxton
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Grad Student
CHARACTER BLURB: Part of the hunter guild Overwatch, Lena was involved in an accident with a new kind of teleport spell that destabilized her existence. Now, she can teleport short distances and occasionally gets flashes of visions of the future warning her of danger, but also has to wear a special harness or she finds herself teleporting around at random and phasing in and out of existence. Overwatch was shut down for reasons I haven't figured out yet, so Lena joined up with Daybreak because she didn't want to stop fighting for good, and because the world could always use more heroes.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: People with connections to Overwatch? I dunno I'm making this up as I go.
DESIRED CR: Lena is just a ray of sunshine here to cheer everyone up, and she'll be less smug than Lin was about it.
OTHER: I'm actually TERRIBLE at playing Tracer in the actual game.

PLAYER NAME: Ruka
CHARACTER NAME: Meta Knight
CANON: Kirby
BLURB: A honorable sort who likes to fight things a lot. A lot a lot. Most of his appearances, when not helping Kirby, are just boss fights. He has kind of a chaotic streak.
AU INFORMATION
CHARACTER AU NAME: Meta Knight. Sometimes holds the title of Captain or Sir, but he doesn't really mind.
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Faculty
CHARACTER BLURB: A figure cloaked in mystery, Meta Knight has been wandering the Outlands for a very long time. Spoken of both as a honorable, noble figure and a terrifying one-person fighting force, most of the stories that involve him fail to address his height accurately, because most people don't like admitting they got beaten up by a masked creature roughly the size of a soccer ball.
It's said that he fell from space in the days when the world was young, having found new purpose and a reason to break away from the primordial force that created him in the ideals of shorter-lived creatures. Nobody knows whether this is true or not, but he does seem to have an affinity for the stars.
He also has a legendary sword, called Galaxia. Whether it has a life of its own or not varies from story to story. It doesn't seem inclined to speak up about it, though, and neither does its wielder, so it stays a mystery for now.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: He's very old and has basically fought anything and everything as it suits him. If he met centuries-old characters, it was probably in combat. Possibly you were on opposing sides, possibly as allies.
DESIRED CR: people to bother him, tbh, but really like. ANYTHING??

PLAYER NAME: Mari
CHARACTER NAME: Hibiki Shikyoin
CANON: PriPara
BLURB: On the surface, PriPara is an idol show intended to sell arcade game tickets to small children. The person who directed Milky Holmes was in charge of it, though, so it ended up a wacky character-driven gag comedy where all place names have the letter P in them (The Palps mountains! New Yorp! Historical famous idol Priopatra!), no pun goes unused, and the idea of "celebrating individuality" is taken to ludicrous extremes. Overall, the show is about respecting other people's right to be themselves, balancing the importance of expressing oneself with not inconveniencing others. "Everybody's friends, everybody's idols!" is the slogan.
And then there's this asshole.
Hibiki Shikyoin is the show's first season-long villain, a super celebrity from a rich & influential family who also became a world-famous movie star, model, theater actor, etc. for no good reason other than because she could. She is a "genius": she doesn't need to practice to be good at stuff. And she knows it. Hibiki is the kind of person who can't just attend school; she has to declare herself acting principal and erect a gigantic statue of herself on the school grounds while she's at it. She's utterly shameless, stunningly audacious, and a bit of a showoff even when she's talking. Why use only one language when you can switch back and forth between several simultaneously For The Aesthetic?
Despite her narcissism, Hibiki can appear friendly and flirtatious - she's a parody of the Takarazuka "otokoyaku," or actress who plays male roles in all-female Japanese theater. In-universe, she's been crowned Mister Handsome Universe Prince of the Year, and can generate purple sparkles and rose petals at will - but her attention is (usually) insincere. Due to a Tragic But Also Kinda Silly Backstory, she enters the show convinced that everybody is just....lying, all the time. About everything. Especially friendship. She has Friendship Trauma.
If everything's a lie, Hibiki figures, she might as well enjoy lying to the liars, and live according only to those rules which benefit her and get her closer to her dream of......HOLDING A ~REVOLUTION~, creating a shining Celebrity Paradise where only talented idols can perform, then turning herself into a living ideal and staying there forever because of the whole "rest of the world is lies and falsehoods" thing. (At least she does honestly think everyone will be happier in a world like that, not just her? As a Prince, she's an excellent party host/escort, and looks out for everyone as an older mentor figure....by being a jerk to them so they'll improve out of spite.)
On top of all THAT, Hibiki being the villain in a "hooray for wacky individuality!" show means that she has a phobia/physical allergy to "sentence enders", the little suffixes people put on their sentences in Japanese to sound cutesy or stand out (think -nyan, etc.) Hearing sentence enders causes her physical pain, and if she's surrounded by too many, it seriously endangers her health. She also has a low tolerance for other people's stupidity, which leads to a running gag about her dropping her teacup whenever something particularly Dumb or Not In Accordance With Her Aesthetics happens.
Oh, and when she can't get what she wants by flirting or yelling at people, she dresses up in a mask, cloak, and tremendously stupid hat, calls herself "Phantom Thief Genius", and steals her objective while monologuing about A SINGLE CASABLANCA LILY APPEARING IN THE DARKNESS. As, you know. You do.
tl;dr - Hibiki Shikyoin is Much. All the time. Help.
AU INFORMATION
CHARACTER AU NAME: Hibiki Shikyoin
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Either "faculty" or grad student (see below)
CHARACTER BLURB: I'm still working out the particulars here, so input is encouraged! I know I want Hibiki to come from a super rich Celeb family, so I figure she's the heir to some fancy Mage family with a ton of influence and prestige. She'd still be convinced the world is all lies and falsehoods, and I'd like her to still be an entertainment superstar since her "all the world's a stage" mentality and total commitment to ACTING! are integral to both her aesthetic and her worldview.
To that end, I'm thinking she also awoke to some sort of Flame that activates only when/because she sings and dances (and comes with its own musical accompaniment out of nowhere, because if we're already that corny, let's add the whole ham). There will probably be flowers and swords and purple flame and giant gold Hibiki statues involved, but I'm still trying to decide whether I want her to be an illusionist or actually able to generate certain objects at will while singing. (Can one do both? The illusions seem to have solid heft while she's focusing, but if you knock her out, keep her from singing, or say "how are you doing today, Hibiki, pri?" everything poofs?)
As far as what she's doing at Daybreak, Hibiki is fixated on the Outlands. But not the yucky bad negative parts. She wants to ensure that Nightfall isn't a Nightfall but a dawn instead - the dawn of HER REVOLUTION, at which point beautiful and shining magic rises to prominence. To that end, she wants to increase everyone's Radiance (especially those who already have talent), and is ultimately looking for a way to turn herself into a being made of pure magic. She's keeping mum about that bit, though, and wants to hold a class on how to strengthen Radiance. She has a lot of ideas about how to do that. They mostly involve absorbing High Class Culture and/or competing with rivals.
This isn't exactly an academically-rigorous idea, though, and she'd just plain never attend class if she enrolled herself as a grad student. So I'm thinking maybe she's just.....not faculty, but acts as if she is. She shows up to faculty meetings. How did she know where to go? She's Hibiki. (And she spies on everything...canonically...so she probably makes use of surveillance magic here, too - with OOC permission.) She announces her class to the students as if she's fully affiliated, but holds it in swanky digs she had set up herself - because she's Hibiki. Did I mention she's 15? She's 15. But it's all good. She's Hibiki Shikyoin, Number One In The World. At what? Irrelevant. At everything.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Anyone already involved in the entertainment fields would probably at least have heard of her, if not crossed paths with her! Same with the other Mages. It might be fun to say that certain families have marriage ties, though I am heartily sorry to anyone who ends up with Hibiki as a cousin.
One other possibility is my bringing Hibiki in a little further in her character development. Without the people who help her see that she's wrong about...a lot of stuff...I'd figured I would be bringing her in still distrusting everything, and then see how interacting with everyone influenced her opinions. But if someone plays a sweet, loving, extremely patient young lady and would like to establish that they've already helped Hibiki realize she's wrong about a lot of stuff, that's an option too. And then Hibiki is unable to say no to your character. She is devoted, but high-maintenance.
DESIRED CR: Related to the above: anyone playing a girl who's at least part fae or some other fancy pretty Outlands race who wants to play out DISGUSTINGLY STUPID flirtation threads, hit me up. Hibiki Has A Type and is a master of cringey bad romance novel pick-up lines. So if you want your character to be told things like "Look, this lobster is blushing at the sight of your radiance" in the middle of dinner.....I can provide?
She's also always searching for fellow geniuses, and would want to hand-pick her class instead of having open enrollment. Anyone also playing a supertalented character - she wants to be their mentor, and polish their radiance (and hopefully Radiance) until they shine.
On the exact opposite end of the spectrum, anyone playing a character who believes in the Power of Effort (and/or Friendship), or a character who uses a sentence ender, who wants some rival or outright negative CR, I love that too. There were Prinnies in the last game I took her to, dood. Those were GOOD TIMES.
I also know there are some Phantom Thieves in the game, and while Hibiki's brand of Phantom Thievery is a little more...literal....the idea of encountering each other out and about in masks and capes is funny. So I would be up for exploring something there!
OTHER:
I wasn't kidding about the allergy. Also, her voice is super low.

GENERAL INFORMATION
PLAYER NAME: Espilan
CHARACTER NAME: Rebecca Fulton
CANON: original
BLURB: n/a
AU INFORMATION
CHARACTER AU NAME: Rebecca Fulton
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student, 10th grade. She's older than she looks, shut up.
CHARACTER BLURB:
• Rebecca is the daughter of a pair of hunters in a clan that primarily largely deals with human threats on Earth itself that have been found to be actively working toward Nightfall or have otherwise been proven to be dangerous. Because the clan's activities have understandably earned them more than just a few enemies, its members frequently relocate as to avoid putting any single place at risk for too long.
• An incident that occurred when she was seven years old resulted in an early manifestation of her Flame; Rebecca is a Candle with an ability that initially pretty much amounts to accelerated natural healing with a few additional benefits as a result of said healing, and the ability to temporarily grant that same healing to others. It will eventually graduate into a full-blown proper healer power as her ability to actually tap into her Flame increases; the only reason it hasn't really done so yet is she hasn't really tried.
• Her Flame also has the added effect of preventing her from aging, and it has done so since it first manifested. She's spent the past decade like this, and being a seventeen-year-old stuck in a seven-year-old body is not as awesome as it sounds.
• She was eventually sent to Daybreak partly for her safety, but also specifically so she could learn more about the sort of work her parents do in a hopefully-less-risky way. It's expected that after graduation, she will join in on the clan's activities in whatever capacity she is capable of/comfortable with. Whether she actually will or not remains to be seen.
• She's friendly enough. Hard to anger, rarely stays mad for long. Finds it easy to forgive others (too easy, maybe). Has a good memory. Doesn't like talking about herself much. Dislikes large crowds. Can be a little impatient/pushy.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR:
• Rebecca's parents, Terrence (Terry) and Marian (Mary), are part of a hunter clan that deals mostly with mage families or other organizations that have become threats to their fellow humans one way or another. Any other hunter clans, mage families, or rune guard companies that do similar work are probably at least somewhat aware of them or may have even worked with them in the past, and depending on the exact circumstances of those meetings, it's entirely possible that they could have met Rebecca as well. Because it was kinda kept under wraps, though, they're probably not really aware of the whole no-longer-aging thing, so if she was met within the past ten years, have fun finding out that she's literally the same as ever. (Physically, anyway; her mental age is absolutely what it should be.)
• Any characters that live or lived in the eastern US (particularly Florida, Maine, New York, Ohio or Pennsylvania) might have met her before! Any child/teen characters in particular may have been friends in the time she'd gotten to know them between any given moves, and it's likely that she would have maintained some sort of contact with them after moving away unless they completely dropped off the radar themselves for one reason or another.
• ETA: If your character is the sort to use online chat rooms and stuff like that, there's the possibility that they could have met that way, even if they never met directly. Her handle for those would have been Bekamari because she had the imagination of a grape when she first started using them and opted to just base her UN on her first and middle names instead. That's also the UN she'll be using on the network here, so it's totally possible to recognize her by that whenever she does make a post.
DESIRED CR: pffft, anything
