I feel like it's conceivable that there's a connection between the daemon that branded Hazel and her friends, and the daemons that infested Kohaku and the rest of AEGIS, though I'm not sure what it would be.

The daemon didn't brand Hazel as she has her anti-daemon aura, but he did brand everyone else. It's not really a parasite daemon though. The branding is more to slowly corrupt them and then he can eat their souls. Is there anything going on like that with her parasite daemons?

Not really, the parasites are actually meant to be entirely benevolent, if in a kind of creepy way.

So hmm, maybe a direct connection doesn't really work, but it could be a point of connection for Hazel to THINK Kohaku is branded. She's got a pretty gnarly scar on her back where it first touched her.

Hazel would need to be looking at her naked back to kind of see that, but just the idea of her being infested with daemons would freak Hazel out. Like she gets that some daemons aren't bad, but that's not the same as being treated like a host. That's a step too far for her.

Also her anti-daemon aura would probably do them harm if it flared up while near her.

ANYONE seeing Kohaku’s naked back is pretty unlikely. The anti daemon thing would fuck her up pretty badly though. She’d probably get dizzy at best or pass out at worst since nervous system is made of daemon stuff now.
