Welcome to the April AU Planning Meme for Daybreak Academy! This post is intended to help prospective players plot their AU and figure out who their characters are in this setting and where they want to go, as well as work together with other players to plan future CR, build Secret Societies and Clubs, and generally determine where they want to start their characters, and where they want them to go. In addition to posting up the form, you are encouraged to tag around to other people's forms and discuss potential CR and plans with them. This post is an open forum for all prospective players to hash out interesting ideas for their characters ahead of joining the game.

BLURB: 130 year old cyborg who watched his wife and stepson get killed constantly tries to either erase his remaining humanity or get himself killed so he won't have to keep suffering, tries to act colder than he actually is.



AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Jan Sauer/Ziggurat 8 ("Ziggy"), probably a bunch of other nicknames people call him by.
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Faculty, probably going to be teaching short-range combat, strategic planning, and surviving in the Outlands and other hostile territory.
CHARACTER BLURB: Jan was a German police officer and Rune Guard member in the era of WWII. After the occupation of part of Poland, he moved there with the intention of helping prevent violence against the locals, and ended up helping targets of Nazi genocide either hide or flee. Then he married a Jewish widow with a middle school aged son, only to see them both brutally murdered by a coworker, who happened to also be a vampire contracted to a powerful being from the Outlands. Faced with a choice between being turned or having his soul absorbed by the vampire, Jan took a third option and shot himself.

Thanks to some unscrupulous mages and their "Project Ziggurat", he's now a zombie enhanced by runic replacements for his limbs and augmentations to various internal organs. He's also kind of legally dead and under a magical geas that keeps him from abandoning a mission, so he's sort of resigned himself to being treated like an object.

He's spent the past 70 years or so seeking out the most dangerous missions he could find, often going on trips into the Outlands, and somehow coming back intact from all of them. Seriously, it's insane the kinds of jobs he's taken and unlived to talk about. Some of these missions have been in cooperation with the school, but he's only recently signed on as proper faculty.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: People he's gone on missions with, people he's gone on missions to rescue, former enemies, other really old people who might have known him when he was human. Or any other way someone might have met a 100 year old mercenary.
DESIRED CR: Give him all the smols to melt his steel-cased heart. Or idealistic people to clash with his cynicism. Or idealistic smols for him to become determined to protecc. People to worry about his mental health would also be great.
OTHER:Feel free to come up with nicknames and/or Chuck Norris-style "Ziggurat 8 facts" your characters use/spread around. In fact, I encourage it. The guy has 70 years of trying and failing to get himself killed in action behind him, there's gotta be some Stories there.

BLURB: Young and impressionable apprentice turned scheming Nobody turned chatty and helpful apprentice again, keeping his snark all the while.


AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Ienzo Sullivan (his birth name, I'm leaving his adopted last name open for the moment)
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Grad student focused on research. No, he does not know his major, he's interested in fields with no names (it's computer science).
CHARACTER BLURB: Largely the same as his canon backstory, actually! Ienzo was adopted by Unnamed Mage Family [Ansem the Wise] when his parents died and was expected to become a very powerful mage himself, once he grew up. This, obviously, did not go according to plan as another one of his family's adopted scions [Xehanort] kind of went crazy and probably entered a fell pact to get more power. They talked a few of the other apprentices/scions into becoming collateral, including little Ienzo who didn't really know better and had been lied to/convinced that this was the Best Option (and then was probably properly brainwashed to some degree so those pesky morals wouldn't get in the way). For most of his adolescence he went by Zexion and served this Crazy Asshole as they tried to establish themselves, but thanks to Shenanigans this fell through (and the brainwashing/mind control/whatever was reversed). Now he's at Daybreak both to make something of himself and make amends for anything he may have done under Crazy Asshole's control.

And also be a nerd who is trying to do things like combine runic inscription and old magic into a new field of study, send spells over the internet, and basically be those Tumblr posts about modern technology witches in the flesh.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Other folks seeking redemption who might have heard of Crazy Asshole. Mage families who might have known his Unnamed Mage Family. Hells, people who want to be that Unnamed Mage Family or Crazy Asshole or poor souls sucked into Crazy Asshole's plots.
DESIRED CR: All sorts! Mentors, ment-ees, fellow nerds, people with a bone to pick with him over the mistakes of his childhood, people who are willing to help this poor emotionally confused nerd, people he can quietly snark at for being tech dumb. I would kill for a rival researcher though.

CHARACTER NAME: Bendy the Demon
CANON: Bendy and the Ink Machine
BLURB: 1930s cartoon demon created by Joey Drew Studios as their primary character and mascot. The studio head Mr. Drew tries to bring him to life with the titular ink machine and but this doesn't go quite as planned. Human sacrifice, jump scares and other indie horror game shanigans ensue.


AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Bendy
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student
CHARACTER BLURB: The by-product of Joey Drew making a pact with a daemon to try and bring his studio's cartoon characters to life. It took a few false starts and a bit of murder to get it to actually work properly though. After some deliberation, I've decided that this Bendy is not the Ink Demon from the game but another Bendy that was created later and got trapped in the studio with everyone else when things really went wrong (and there might be another Boris and a perfect Alice in there too if anyone ever wanted to play castmates that are toons). He's the one who was controlling the Bendy cutouts Henry encountered when he was trapped in there. Henry found him at some point near the end of the canon events of the game and took out of the studio with him after defeating the ink demon. Henry was then approached by people who were connected to Daybreak and asked to let them take him there so he'd be somewhere safe where he could learn to control his powers and they could keep an eye on him. Bendy has both rubber hose cartoon character based abilities and the ability to control ink but he can't (yet) become a full-blown "ink demon" like his "prototype." Still, he's not a real daemon himself. Just a construct with demonic powers.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Whoever was responsible for convincing Henry to bring him to Daybreak Academy? People who've been keeping an eye on him?
DESIRED CR: Friends and people him to play pranks on or with.
OTHER: Miku hasn't been working out for me and I've gotten some practice playing this guy in a dressing room-like place, so I might try apping him first after all.

So one wonders: What would a girl who grew up in a remote monastery-like place in the italian-swiss alps would do between training sessions to summon daemons?

She watched creepy black-and-white cartoons featuring daemons, of course!

She may be the one responsible for bringing the little guy here, if no one would rather take the credit. In any case, he's now got a very leggy fangirl who adored him as a child, and if anything happens to Bendy then she will KILL EVERYONE IN THIS ROOM AND THEN HERSELF.

...Well actually no, not herself. Just... everyone in the room.

ffffft it occurred to me when writing the app that the game takes place in the 60s and the timeline can't really be moved so Henry should honestly be dead or something by now. orz Ah, well. I guess that doesn't matter too much since he's going to be at the school anyway. Though maybe some weird magic shit could have happened in the rather unlikely event that someone apps Henry into the game. I guess I'll just have to be more ambigious when talking about him. XD;

BLURB: Grieving Egyptian Cop with a collapsing marriage and his literal seeing eye eagle Dad Mode all of Egypt so hard they found a secret society that lasts over 2000 years. Featuring sassing Cleopatra, Egyptian Mythology and a lot of “put that thing back where it came from or so help me”.


AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Bayek Nasir
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Faculty: probably dealing with familiars, and Egyptology/Egyptian Magic(?), archery
CHARACTER BLURB:

One of a long line of magical guardians in Egypt, Bayek was already an adult and father when a group of mages decided to run around disturbing old tombs and collecting magical artifacts. In order to get one of the artifacts a few members of the Order kidnapped Bayek's son in order to gain his assistance in bypassing the traps. Things went... badly, and Bayek ended up accidentally killing his own son when trying to stop the mages.

Bayek swore an oath of vengeance, and over the course of the next few years he and his then wife tracked down and elimitated those who had caused their son's death. Sadly, while Bayek was able to lay down his anger and lighten his heart, his wife was not and they parted ways as a couple. They continued to put disturbed magics to rest, either together or with the help of others.

Bayek eventually left Egypt with his familiar, an (apparent) eagle called Senu, seeking to help fight the rising tide of darkness. He chose to settle at the Academy because they are the ones spearheading the fight, and teaching others has always been somthing he enjoyed.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Adults who helped during the vengeance run, folks who helped with Egyptian Flavored magical shenannigans (shoving angry mummies back where they came from, putting stolen artifacts back where they came from, etc.), drinking buddies?

I'm leaning towards running him as a Familiar-based Flame becuase it fits nicely, and I'm super open to working with folks with that!

DESIRED CR: People to Dad Mode at (of any age), be sarcastic about things with, folks to be nerdy about Really Old Tombs and

GENERAL INFORMATION

PLAYER NAME: Kathrine
CHARACTER NAME: Alma Karma
CANON: D.Gray-man
BLURB: Alma is a Second Exorcist, which is basically a man-made humanoid created specifically to become an accomodator of a mystical semi-sentient object called Innocence that is used to fight manufactured monsters called Akuma which are powered by the souls of humans. Innocence only connects to one person and when that person dies it can take years to decades to find the next compatible person. So the Black Order, under the rule of The Church, thought it would be a great idea to steal the brains off their comatose or near dead Exorcists and put them into new bodies so they wouldn't have to find a new accomodator. They were to raise the ones who woke up from their comas as new people (children) and train them as Exorcists. While torturing and experimenting on them for the purpose of forcing them to sync with the Innocence.

Alma is one of these, but he regains the memories of his previous life and finds out everything he was raised on was a lie. He then proceeds to kill everyone but can't die himself because his body keeps healing itself. After a fight to the death with his best friend, he falls into a coma and is used as an incubator for the Third Wave of Exorcists that use Akuma parts instead of Innocence. When he is awakened from that coma, he ends up becoming a high level Akuma himself and tries to force his best friend to kill him so that he never finds out that Alma is the woman his friend sees in his own memories of his past life. Of course BFF tries to save him in the end, but his body was so weakened and damaged from the fights and experiments that it would fall apart and even his soul would cease to exist. So yeah life is suffering forever in D.Gray-man.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Alma Karma
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Grad Student, age 19.
CHARACTER BLURB: Alma Karma is a humanoid being (golem) made to fight a breed of daemons called Akuma that feed on the souls of humans by a secret society of rune guards, hunters, and mages called the Black Order. This Order uses ancient semi-sentient tools of Outlands origin to fight these daemons and the ones who create them, only these tools called Innocence can only be used by people with compatible magical auras. Trying to use one when you aren't compatible can lead to not only being seriously hurt, but can turn you into a Fallen, which is when the Innocence turns against its user and makes them into a mindless being that can only destroy before dying out.

It takes a really long time to find people compatible to use Innocence so the Black Order started created Second Exorcists. Alma Karma was raised in an isolated location being experimented on and pushed to sync with the Innocence while hoping for some of the others to wake up so he wouldn't be alone. When some of them did, he became very attached to them and didn't want anything to happen to them. He even broke the rules to try and break one of his friends out when he overheard that they were going to put them back to sleep. This led him to activating the Innocence compatible to him, a parasitic Innocence that bonded to his arm like a wing made out of a sharp blade that could also fire energy blasts, only they both ended up injured.

Alma was kept under severe isolation and put through re-education processes to make sure he would never want to fight against the Order again, but a bitterness and resentment had been building in him. And along with that and the forced usage of his Innocence were these images, flashes of scenes like from a dream. Sometimes they felt so real they almost seemed like memories. Memories of another life in which he was a very different person.

He would go on to become an Exorcist and do what was asked of him, because he would do anything to protect his friends and the threat of losing them would always be hanging over him, but he hates the Order. He hates them so much that at times he doesn't even care about trying to make sure the Helpers who are sent out with Exorcists are missions come back alive. He never does anything to outright hurt anyone, even though he has the urges, but he doesn't mourn them if they get caught in the middle of the fight either. He sees that as just part of the group that has exploited him and his friends and let Exorcists be used over and over by the Order.

This anger was starting to get a bit out of control and so the Exorcist that Alma apprenticed under and the head of the order's main branch decided it might be best to get Alma out of there, to give him some distance so that he wasn't being reminded of what he had gone through over and over again. That's where Daybreak Academy comes in. They needed an in to the school, someone who would visit and report back and could spend regular time there to observe everything. If Nightfall was going to happen and Daybreak Academy seers had information, they would want some forewarning to do something about it, too.

Alma wasn't the only one sent to the Academy, but he has managed to keep coming back for the last four years with minimal fuss and complaints from the higher ups of the Order. It's helped his mental state a lot to not have to be at the Black Order all the time, even though they do still call him out for missions regularly and make him have to spend hours and days catching up on everything he's missed while he's out. Thankfully he's a nerd and loves learning or it would be really hard to stay in line with his grade level.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Alma has been at the school for years so he would have met quite a few people, although some people may know him as "That Kid Who Misses A Month Every Other Quarter To Go Home." I'd love for him to have some friends because he's a chatty, open, earnest guy who really just wants to make connections with people. Like he would kill for connections (seriously). But fair warning, he can be clingy and needy and can and will stalk you if he gets super attached. Personal boundaries are not something this guy is ever going to completely understand. Also he can hold a grudge even if he might smile and pretend like all's forgiven, so tense and rocky relationships are great too!

DESIRED CR: I want to give him people he can bond with and people he can argue with. I'd also love teachers he could look up to and maybe trust because it's really hard for him to trust adults considering how even the nicest ones he knows back home are still complicit or even permissive of the abuse he put up with for years. Also people who can drag him into trouble because despite being distrustful of adults, Alma is also super gullible and easy to manipulate into things. People who may recognize he's not fully human, too, could be fun, since he's basically a human brain in a golem body.

OTHER: Warnings for Alma will involve violence, self-harm ideation, child abuse flashbacks, a lot of negative thoughts about himself and others if something sets him off. He's definitely not someone who is fully mentally or emotionally healthy even though I've set up the AU for him to be in a much better place than he was in canon. He's got a lot to work through. If/When I app him, I will definitely be putting up a permission post and warnings.

Got an OC who has a parasitic daemon grafted to her spine that grants her weird powers and was inducted into a daemon hunting organization because of it. Her "canon" also involves shit like trying to clone artificial parasites that can be grafted onto grownups and armies of monsters from the depths of the Earth but that's all in the background at this game.

It's not the same thing but I feel like there are enough parallels that they might find some common ground?

CHARACTER AU NAME: Kofuku, but goes by Kofuku Ebisu
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Faculty, Home Economics
CHARACTER BLURB: Since things have changed slightly from the last time I posted her to this meme, here are some details that have been rehashed and refined:

• A fae who has ascended to divinity through a hilarious (and somewhat uncomfortable) comedy of errors
  
• Misfortune seemed to befall any that she interacted with, so many began seeing her as a harbinger of bad luck and began praying that she not visit them
  
• This happened so frequently, over a number of generations, that she became something of a goddess in her own right
  
• Over the centuries, she's learned how to control this—somewhat. Usually she can prevent calamities from happening due to her indirect influence, but it's somewhat trial-and-error
  
• She also parades around as a fortune spirit, calling herself Ebisu. Look, it's hard when people think you're bad news.
  
• Through her divinity, Kofuku discovers that not only can she predict bad things happening with startling accuracy, but that she has a natural sense of where the Outlands intersect with the mortal realm
  
• Instead of using these powers for evil, she brings her talents to Daybreak Academy. They hire her as a teacher, a position she has held for most of the school's existence

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: I'm open to anything and everything, lay it on me! Big hooks would be previous students and/or fellow faculty. Possibly people who have heard of her in the Outlands? I also have a not-so-secret desire for CR that knows that she can throw down when necessary.

Also I said this before and I'll say it again, I would kill for a Daikoku or someone similar. She needs her not-husband, please!!
DESIRED CR: Current students! Kids that she can adopt and drape herself on like a cat! People who think she's a student because she's smol and dresses like a teenager! Kofuku will be taking over Café Phantom's advisory duties, so regulars might see her around there.

BLURB: Miranda tries really hard to people, and usually she kind of fails at it, gets in her own head and freaks out about how she fails at it and eVERYTHING EVER... but is still somehow a total badass who cares about others so deeply and just wants to Do Good.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Probably still going with Miranda Lotto, but discussing things with another player, so her surname might change.
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Grad student
CHARACTER BLURB:

• The daughter of a mad scientist, "created" in order to fulfill his desire to create what is essentially the perfect race of beings
  
• Miranda... isn't quite what he had in mind, and is tossed out as a "failed experiment" at a young age
  
• She and her mother go to live in a small town in Germany. However, due to the strain of the experiments conducted on her, Miranda's mother passes when Miranda is a young teen
  
• Bad luck and misfortune continues to follow her, to the point where Miranda begins to believe that it's her fault, and her lot in life. EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE AND IT'S HER FAULT.
  
• Things turn around, however, when her small town is put in danger, and Miranda's desire to fix things awakens her flame abilities
  
• She sees this as an opportunity to try to help others, and when she is approached by the staff at Daybreak, she accepts their offer to attend school there

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Miranda has been attending Daybreak for roughly 10 years by this point, so previous teachers or former classmates are welcome to remember her. She was pretty dreary when she first started attending, but as she's done more field work, she's gotten less... intense, we'll say.

She also has a younger brother who she knows about but hasn't really met, so she'll probably be checking up on his friends. If he has friends. Intensity is kind of a family trait so................
DESIRED CR: Other grad students! I would also love to get her in as a TA and potentially an RA. She'll think that she's terrible at it, but she's extremely hard working at everything she does. Really, I can figure out a way to make anything work, so toss ideas at me!

♔ ok my first thought was lycanthrope bc ofc but im laughing too much at ferocious rise kids... that just doesnt happen. outlander fey is what's final. adoptive dad is probably a wererat tho! i was gonna integrate rune for the magic weapon but unpredictable is. leos whole failure thing with teleportation. i can also integrate his attempts at super speed where he just slip slides everywhere and lands on his face. he receives some discrimination for being a fey but he more or less lets it slide off his shell he can be passive-aggressive about it tho for people who wanna neg cr/have bad history with fey!

Oh hey. I'm still up for some CR ideas if you are. Toki made a fey contract a couple weeks ago and got superspeed out of the deal, which he hasn't used yet; so that's a thing to mess with how their powers differ in the chaotic bits. But he'd certainly be wary of Leo's fey-ness to begin with after his encounter with one. He's 15, also outgoing, and skips class (though he's a terrible student). Conversational Japanese will be good because he doesn't speak English (but French).

Version 1- Basically no different to canon, except he's the prince of a weird pseudo-Grecian land of myth and magic in the outlands, so the modern world is all new to him.

Version 2- Prince of an actual real-world country who upon discovering his demi-god status and statue mom just jumped his ass right into the outlands and has been running around there for a year or so.

Version 2 is slightly more convenient and honestly, I find the idea of him strolling up the school and the 'aren't you that internationally famous missing child' reaction interesting. Though I really love fish out of water nonsense so version also appeals. Ho-hum.

Either way, Kurt will still be out to save his mother- the series provides an ideal time for him to set aside his independent wandering streak, in which he has just suffered a humiliating defeat against Medusa and rather than charging straight towards her he wants to build his strength and learn. To that end, I'm thinking during his year in the Outlands he's bumped into Daybreak members and possibly stopped by the school for a short while as part of his adventures of the week, and now knows a good place to go. Possibly they got him to come and he ran off thinking they'd be sending him home rather than letting a little kid go nuts out there in the magical world.

Well, there's the above for a start! Kurt turned up and spent maybe a week making friends and playing around before deciding to get on with his quest all alone. Probably about six months ago. Now he's back, baby! Except he's kind of bummed and his super cool sword that could grow to the size of a mountain is broken and he's more dedicated than ever. Kurt has a habit of getting attached to older women because he's desperate for motherly love, but he's a lively friendly guy who gets along with everyone and is always especially interested in people who can keep up with his high spirits.

So her childhood was pretty standard for ordinary humans in Florida other than her deciding to act out with petty crimes and joining a motorcycle gang at one point. You know, that sort of thing.

Eventually she ends up going to prison after the dude she was dating supposedly did a hit and run that included murder let her take the fall for him.

Where her need to survive in this place and serve her time started to manifest in her abilities that are... more or less a thing in her father's side of the family. Using this new power she moves on to protecting herself and others inside the prison until her father ends up finding this out and pulling some strings to get her out and drag her to the Academy. Needless to say, she's not pleased about any of this.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Honestly, I doubt anyone is going to have many ties to her unless they knew her when she was younger through the gang she was in or heard about the whole crime ordeal in the news. But she's also going to be part of the Familiars as far as powers go and hell yeah Speedwagon Foundation is now a Hunter clan, what's up? They tend to focus more on dealing with vampires that have familiar-based abilities or just one in particular that will remain unnamed unless that needs to come up.

STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Grad Student
CHARACTER BLURB: 22 years ago, Dorian and Maureen Green had a child with a squirrel tail. Unknown to both of them, this was due to the fact that both of them had Outlands ancestry. While they were basically baseline human, the combination of those recessive traits led to Doreen's squirrel powers. Over the years, she hid her powers and tail in public, occasionally using them to help others with her squirrel friend Monkey Joe. Eventually she met Peter's mentor, rescuing him from a very powerful Mage in the process. He helped introduce her to the wider magical world. Despite this, did not join the Avengers. She did, however, join another Hunter team that worked near the Great Lakes, where she was living at the time. They weren't the most competent Hunter team in existence. Several members died in ridiculous accidents, and the team was betrayed by a rejected former member who killed Monkey Joe. Despite all this, Doreen genuinely liked working with them, and even befriend a new squirrel partner, Tippy Toe, when the team managed one of their few victories as a collective group.

However, it soon proved that Doreen basically outclassed the rest of the group in skill and power. Many threats they faced (comparitively minor compared to some of canon Squirrel Girl's wins) could be dispatched by her alone. Eventually she was the only one actively seeking out a facing problems, while the rest of team sat around at base. Convinced she was holding them back from developing into a proper team, she left for New York. She was accepted into NYU's computer science program, and formed her own hunter team on the side. This team occasionally worked alongside the Avengers, and Doreen also teamed up with Peter Parker a few times after he came on the scene

Then Thanos showed up. Doreen teamed up with the Avengers and they stopped him. Doreen punched him in the face a not inconsiderable amount of times, and buried him in a ton of squirrels. She...might be the reason they actually beat him when they didn't in canon. Peter, of course, still died.

And then Peter's mentor proceeded to not tell her he resurrected him. She finished out her remaining time at NYU, and with Nightfall approaching decided to do her graduate studies at Daybreak.

-City kid forcibly moved the boonies where his dad works at the local supermarket that now destroys the competition of the local small town stores, earning the town's ire and other students bully him.
-Due to not having the IT (subject to change should castmates roll it, retcon is doable if needed) Yosuke didn't gain any friends to help combat the bullying at school. He's a bit more anxious and quiet than his counterpart, but still leads to his foot in mouth syndrome as he went from having friends in the city who basically only cared about his discount at the store to none and bullied. He just tends to keep to himself and uses his headphones to drown out the noise. Despite all this, he was also immensely bored as he really did nothing but work at the store or go to school and with no one to hang out with, there just wasn't much for him in the town.
-One day, decided he couldn't take it anymore and tried to run away and instead, ran into the Outlands without realizing. There he met his Other self, confronted with his insecurities and his hatred for the town that hated him, his need to wanting to leave and seek adventure because it was something to do for his boredom, and, most importantly, his lack of friends. He didn't accept it at first, it was an incredibly ugly part of him, but eventually realizes that he needed to in order to survive and move forward (I dunno, still working this out lol)
-Gains a familiar named Jiraiya, which is his True self and his acceptance of his Shadow. With this, he gains Flame abilities in the use of wind magic and healing magic. He also gains a cool pair of glasses to help him not only see better in the Outlands but not be effected by the mist.
-He makes it out of the Outlands and returns home, shortly after he is taken to Daybreak.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: I mean, it depends if there will be any other P4 peeps out there. Doesn't necessarily have to be just castmates, of course! If there's anyone who wants to be from whatever small town this is (in the game it's called Inaba in Japan and he was originally from Tokyo, I can do a USA equivalent if needed though) and maybe was either a bully, bystander, or an acquaintance. Maybe someone he once knew in the big city?
DESIRED CR: Just like in canon, he really needs friends. Like good friends, and a best friend like he found in the Protag to help him grow and be his best self. Flonne's case, however, was a little more special. The Seraph, highest ranking angel in Celestia, saw an opportunity in Daybreak where other high-ranking angels saw foolishness and corruption (look at all those demons holy shit). Some daemons, the Seraph noticed, were able to see reason and while not necessarily be at peace with humanity, were able to live alongside them with only minor problems. If they could do it, then it might be possible for angels, daemons, and humans to get along. As such, it only made sense to send Flonne, an angel filled with love and kindness and the belief that ALL people have love in their hearts, to the Academy.

Though she is there to help with Nightfall, she is also a test, though Flonne herself only knows that she wants to help.

But while his peers spent their days arguing amongst one another on what to do next, Lamington decided to take matters into his own hands. If Earth is such a tactical spot for daemons to take over, why not see what the world has to offer and help the humans fortify themselves against the coming onslaught. Foolish as they might be, surely something can be done. It's better than sitting idly by and waiting for those idiots he works with to get anything done.

He set his eyes on Daybreak, curiosity piqued by the number of daemons within its walls. Either they knew something others didn't or they were an outlier. Either way, it seemed the best place. Help humanity ready themselves for Nightfall on the one hand, potentially gain intel on daemons on the other. A win-win situation perfect for a tactician like himself. All he had to do was set himself up in a grad student position--a way to keep an eye on teacher and student alike, taking on the pseudonym of Christo.


PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: While not necessarily CR, I imagine he would make it a mission of his to know as much about the daemons on campus as possible, along with any of the more famous people and mage families attending. He's the sort to do some deep digging.

CHARACTER BLURB: Lenus's father, Iovan, was born to the Greys. Though skilled with many different types of magic, the Greys specialized in healing, and anyone with talent in it was expected to become a healer, regardless of their own wishes. It was also expected for healers to only marry other healers, as they took the haughty noble position that the world was their patient and thus it was malpractice to be in a relationship with a patient.

Iovan did not marry a healer. He married a young woman he had fallen in love with. The result was Lenus.

Lenus never met his father's family. In fact, the Greys had all but excommunicated Iovan, never once acknowledging Lenus's existence. This left Lenus with an emotional distance to magical matters with no real desire to close it, despite his father's attempts to educate him.

Even so, he ended up showing some talent for healing.

A lot of talent.

Considerable talent.

Though he already had a lot of potential for healing magic to begin with, Lenus was born a Candle, and his Flame boosted his healing magic even further (though with the drawback that it would harm daemons, undead, and other with daemonic taint). He was noticed by Daybreak around the age of 12 and, to Iovan's delight and Lenus's... less-than-delight, began his studies.

He volunteers to help out at the infirmary, but given the people currently running it, can only do so much. He prefers to make use of alchemy, primarily when it comes to healing potions and tinctures (he doesn't have anything against the act of healing and helping others itself, just with everything that the Greys do. Also his bedside manner is TERRIBLE).

Totally not a nurse who was so selfless and good that she healed everyone on the battle field, no matter their allegiance. Totally did not ascend to Celestia and became an angel. Totally not the world's most infamous traitor because of it and who's death drastically altered Valvatorez's destiny. NOPE, NOT HER.

CHARACTER AU NAME: Artina Vulcanus (not decided if she would have a last name for her true name)
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Faculty (Infirmary? Nurse? Economics teacher?)
CHARACTER BLURB: 400 years ago, she was a nurse in the Gustark-Rekidonian war. Given that she was a nun, she decided to heal the wounded on both sides, ignoring the fact that this was making her look like a traitor in the eyes of her country. One day, she met Valvatorez and pleaded with him to spare a soldier’s life, offering her own blood in exchange. Valvatorez’s pride would not allow him to drink the blood of someone who pitied him and so declared that he would only drink her blood once he had shown her true fear and despair. This also came with a promise to protect her from becoming a casualty of war.

It didn’t work.

She was eventually killed in her church, branded as a traitor, after she had healed a very high-profile soldier/traitor. In her dying breath, she tried to get Valvatorez to drink her blood, telling him to consider his promise void. He refused. The only thing he accepted was to not take revenge for her death.

But then she became an angel so it's all good. Well... minus the fact that she still feels remorse for her promise to Valvatorez, having more or less ruined his life. That and she eventually learned in horror that the soldier she helped, unlike Valvatorez, DID swear vengeance on the world, not only for her, but for all the horrible things his country did to him. She lost track of him in the Outlands and is now looking for him before he does something really bad.

She eventually volunteers to go to Daybreak as an outreach from Celestia… well "outreach". Celestia is running out of money due to the human world and daemons. So Celestia decided to send an angel to collect the money Daybreak would supposedly owe them… that and the daemons living there too.
