Welcome to the March AU Planning Meme for Daybreak Academy! This post is intended to help prospective players plot their AU and figure out who their characters are in this setting and where they want to go, as well as work together with other players to plan future CR, build Secret Societies and Clubs, and generally determine where they want to start their characters, and where they want them to go. In addition to posting up the form, you are encouraged to tag around to other people's forms and discuss potential CR and plans with them. This post is an open forum for all prospective players to hash out interesting ideas for their characters ahead of joining the game.

CANON: Disgaea 4
BLURB: Desco is an artificial demon created by Doctor Kazamatsuri as a younger sister for his daughter, Fuka. When she was younger it was Fuka's dream to take over the world, so her father, being the mad scientist that he was, decided to make his new daughter an incredibly powerful demon. However she was only a prototype. Both Fuka and Desco were later killed by the finished product: DES X and were later sent to the Netherworld. Desco was sealed away because of her power and Fuka was supposed to become a prinny, but got really lucky. After that she ends up fighting and being beaten by the party, soon joining them.

She also really wants to be a final boss.

CHARACTER BLURB: Abandoned as a infant by her daemonic parents, Desco was eventually found and taken in by some kind-hearted people of some mage family and raised as their own. However, it quickly become apparent that despite being mages themselves, they were not equipped to handle a daemon like Desco, who was growing bigger and stronger by the day. As a result they decided it would be for the best to enroll her in Daybreak Academy where she could learn to control her powers by a more competent set of staff.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Her adoptive parents/guardians/family of said people, like adoptive siblings. Friends she knew before joining the school, etc.

For anyone interested in this role, it'd be nice for them to have an interest in gaming. I'd imagine that'd be the easiest way to work in the final boss aspect from the game if I so choose. Maybe she played video games with her adoptive sibling and wants to be like one for the daemons, especially the ones who abandoned her? It's a work in progress.

DESIRED CR: Friends, rivals, role models, big brother/sister figures, demon haters who might see the error of their ways thanks to this small child, etc. I'm open to a lot!
OTHER: None of this is set in stone so if you have any ideas for her backstory or pre-established CR, etc. I'd love to hear them!

CHARACTER NAME: Artoria Pendragon | The Lion King | Goddess Rhongomyniad
CANON: Fate/Grand Order
BLURB: So you know how King Arthur's a woman in the Fateverse, except when they aren't? Well apparently they also didn't die in one universe. Turns out Bedivere didn't return the holy sword Excablibur to the Lady of the Lake, so Artoria was unable to die. Instead she took up the holy spear Rhongomyniad and wandered the world. Over time her humanity faded away and was replaced by the spear's holy essence, turning her into a god. An avatar of the spear. When the King of Mages, Solomon, decided he wanted to burn away all of human history, Artoria decided she would save it. Her definition of saving was pretty different than what humanity would actually want, however, since she felt it was impossible to defeat the King of Mages. What she planned was to take all of the most noble of humanity and lock them away inside the holy city. She would then absorb them into the spear itself to preserve humanity's legacy.

CHARACTER AU NAME: Artoria Pendragon (Allison Parbridge)
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Faculty, History Teacher
CHARACTER BLURB: Honestly? Probably the same as her backstory in canon, up until modern day. I'd imagine that Artoria would wander the world trying to figure out what her purpose is. She'd likely have been making sure Britain was Okay during her time as a magic hobo but aside from that with her degrading humanity, I think she'd be mostly confused as to what she should be doing. Helping people here and there, not helping people because what's the point, dealing with the fall of Camelot, fun stuff like that. Not too long after that I'd imagine she'd catch wind of Nightfall and Daybreak Academy and make a beeline for there. Likely to help out but also because if Daybreak's plan fails hey guys I have a great idea my fellow humans will totally love.

Except this time she'd probably just try to store all the humans in Rhongomyniad while she kills daemons until the planet is cleared, then release the ones saved back into the world and restart civilization. Which is dumb, but less dumb than the aforementioned plan by a little.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Really old people, she's down for knowing you, but hey maybe she met you on her travels, etc. Anything really. Also descendants of her Round Table would be hype. Right now there's plans for her to know Val (and Ammy, but that hasn't been hashed out just yet), but I'm always open to more pre-established CR!
DESIRED CR: People to help bring out her humanity, people who are smart enough to figure out after a while that Allison Parbridge doesn't actually exist, people for her to butt heads with (especially rivals, she's still got that competitive streak to her), etc. I'm open to a lot of stuff!
OTHER: I was considering apping Merlin here but I figured there'd be a better chance of a Merlin showing up than a Artoria (at least, this version). Not 100% on this idea but it sounded cool and it gives me a way to develop a character that Fate's never gonna do anything with again anyway so YEAH.

Still, Merlin is an option if I feel he'd fit better than Goddess Rhongomyniad.

CANON: Hades (Supergiant Games)
BLURB: The son of the god Hades decides he doesn't like living in the underworld anymore and makes it his goal to escape. Every time he tries, he dies in some new and horrible way. Every time he dies he wakes up back in his father's house (because when you die, where do you go but the Underworld?). Every time he wakes up back in his father's house, Hades takes a moment to mock him for his impossible quest. Fortunately, Zagreus is nothing if not persistent.

CHARACTER AU NAME: Prince Zagreus
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Undergrad studying a special course Daybreak offers for students from other dimensions on how to live on Earth. He may or may not end up as an RA or TA as well.
CHARACTER BLURB: the Underworld is a place in the Outlands that Zagreus has escaped from. However, no one is supposed to leave the Underworld ever, so every once in a while undead shades burst out of nowhere to try and kill him and drag him back. In the mean time he has joined Daybreak because he has no idea how the modern world works. His goal is to find Persephone, who in this timeline is a mortal woman and the only person to ever have successfully escaped the Outlands before Zagreus himself. Wherever she is, she has hidden herself well.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Anyone who has possible connections to the Greek Pantheon might have heard of Zagreus before. Alternatively, when Zagreus first arrived on Earth he ended up getting arrested and then busting out of a police station that really was not expecting having to hold a demigod. Someone probably came to grab him and get him to come to Daybreak after that.
DESIRED CR: Zagreus is generally just super easy going and likable, and is good at getting along with people, so he'd be a good option if your character is prickly and pushes people away but desperately needs someone willing to put up with their bullshit. Also maybe other people who aren't too familiar with the human world? Or just...anything..............tag me.............................

♔ aside from memeing around on the internet and skateboarding he's also got a sweet tooth, if anyone would be his bakery buddies! and he enjoys dancing and fashion (curse his shell, he'll make it work)
♔ surprisingly a good student! it's easy to underestimate him with his goofing off but he has a natural affinity. still plays hooky more often than he should tho.

Akechi, for all his attempting to act grownup, also has a huge sweet tooth and would absolutely hang around bakeries while studying. He's also pretty handy with a sword, if Leo wants a sparring partner. Just be prepared for him to be intensely curious about innately supernatural creatures.

....Also, if he trawls around Japanese social media sites, he might have discovered Akechi's food blog, where he embarrasses himself by gushing over whatever meal he's reviewing this week.

BLURB: Rival to Ren Amamiya, a Wildcard Persona user with all the same potential as the protagonist...but none of the guidance or bonds. As a result, he misuses his power in a self-destructive quest for revenge against his selfish and arrogant father for abandoning his mother, unwittingly serving as a pawn in a cosmic gamble.

CHARACTER AU NAME: Goro Akechi
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: 12th year student, 17 years old.
CHARACTER BLURB: Goro Akechi is the illegitimate son of the Japanese mage and politician Masayoshi Shido. Due to Japan's harsh views on illegitimacy, his mother was left alone to fend for both of them, and ultimately died while Akechi was still young. From there, he was bounced between foster homes until he awoke as a Flame, with the ability to manifest the familiar Robin Hood from his own soul. However, that power wasn't enough, and he made a deal: his mysterious patron, whose name he doesn't even know, brought forth a more powerful familiar from the dark side of his soul, in exchange for something to be determined at a later date.

Two years later, he's now a prodigy detective and local celebrity in Tokyo, nicknamed the Detective Prince. But he has a dark secret, as he uses his powers, including the ability to release people's Id and cause them to run amok, to aid his father in hopes of earning his trust. But surely his decision to attend Daybreak Academy is more innocent...right?
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: As his isolation and lack of family or close friends is a major part of his backstory, I want to avoid any deep relationships. That said, people who recognize him from TV or public appearances are welcome, as are coworkers and former classmates. I'd also be interested in neighbors he knew for a few months before getting yanked off to a different neighborhood, for fun 'we could have been friends, but it just turned into a lesson in not getting attached' reunions.

On the darker side, I'd also be willing to work with anyone who might be interested in their character being somehow involved in his under the table job, either as a 'customer' or a former victim.
DESIRED CR: People who'll see through his fake polite mask and learn who he really is, for better or worse. He tries hard to present a certain image, and the best way to get strong CR with him, either positive or negative, is to not take him at face value.
OTHER: I'm on EST and absolutely not a morning person, so you'll most likely be able to catch me in evenings or at night.

CHARACTER BLURB: Ordinary High School student who awakened as a flame with music based powers, who ended up being recruited by a Candle School masquerading as a talent agency and placed in the multi-gender idol group called Vocaloid. She ended up becoming an overnight sensation as an idol, quickly become Face of the Band and most popular member of Vocaloid, all the while learning to hone her talents with her powers as a Candle. Then her school decided to send her to Daybreak Academy to broaden her education in preparation for Nightfall.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: People from her old school, fellow famous people she may have met at least briefly (like they were on the same talk show once or something), fellow idols/candles from her school. I'm doubting I'll be getting any other Vocaloid players ffft

CANON: Dragon Ball Super
BLURB: Broly is the LEGENDARY!! SUPERSAIYAN!!!, which primarily means in a universe where black haired guys who randomly become blonds are the strongest, he's stronger than them. And greenish tinged. Exiled in very early childhood for being stronger than the King's son, he grew up on a backwater hellhole with his dad and all the lack of socializing and normal education this provided up until a pair of Freeza's minions showed up and rescued them. Whereupon Freeza thought it'd be an amazingly fun romp to sic them on Vegeta and Goku, who are in theory the series main protagonists. It went about as well as it usually does for any antagonist up against the Good Guys, save he manages to actually survive it. Yay!


AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Broly
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student!
CHARACTER BLURB: Gonna be de-aging him to a significant degree since in canon he's 40s. Now.. he isn't. This time, Broly's exiled for his father's sins, not his own - a natural wereape, Paragus didn't bother to look for a mate among his own kind or humanity and instead ... well, nobody's quite sure exactly, but when he returned with his ridiculously powerful mixed-breed son in tow, he and Broly were immediately exiled to the Outlands. Paragus unfortunately found it impossible to control his son, who while ordinarily pleasant had this bad habit of going into berserk rages and rampaging around during full moons, and made the mistake of asking a powerful angel for help. The angel obliged, choosing what was best for the boy over what his father wanted, giving Broly a small green lamb to control his temper (which was immediately named Baa) and completely and permanently sealing the vast majority of his incredible power so it couldn't harm him or others in the future.

At some point, Broly and his father (and Baa) are fetched from the Outlands by well-meaning people of Miscellaneous Sorts, and Broly's staggering lack of education alongside a useful knack for controlling light that popped up meant it's time for some schoolin'.

Still very much a work in progress.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: If you're playing a character who's in and out of the Outlands, or had been there for any length of time, it's not impossible they might have crossed paths! Or even dragged Broly and Dad home to good old Earth. Broly's a painfully innocent person, but friendly and quick to form attachments to people who just happen to be nice to him.
DESIRED CR: He's ... gonna need a lot of help with the basics of how to function in normal society. Happily, he's a VERY fast learner, but for a while..
OTHER: Happy to accept advice and so on for purposes of Fun and Mayhem. I am definitely playing from Super, not the original movie Broly, IN SPITE OF MY ICONS because I'm kind of lazy and haven't gotten around to changing them yet. Things seeking advice on: Whatever 'mom' is, it's why he's ridiculously tall and built like a brick sh*thouse. Dad's nowhere near his size and physical strength, after all. Preferably something that would also not ride comfortably alongside wereape instincts and behaviors to properly be the cause for why he has .. uh, aggression issues above and beyond what's normal.

Annnd yes the seal is divinely permanent. I like his personality not the universe-warping maximumest powers.

AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Reira (No Surname)
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student- Aged up to 9
CHARACTER BLURB: Hey look an App Draft-

Reira instead of being a victim of war and science is a victim of some sort of presumed experimentation, the end result of which sent her and another into the Outlands when she was only five. That 'other' would come to not only give her her name, but also form a contract with four sprites (that or something which was in charge of them anyway)- leaving them with the express purpose of protecting Reira at all costs.

Reira in turn, while drained of any magical potential she might have had by those pre-outlands matters, would awaken a candle ability that left her with an impressive and even radar-like empathy ability...at the cost of leaving her incredibly vulnerable to possession. This worked in the sprite's favor- whenever they, or Reira's own empathy, implied something dangerous was near in the outlands they could possess Reira and use their power to run away; something made especially easy because that same vulnerability to possession actually boosted the abilities of the sprites while they did so.

And that's pretty much how Reira lived for four years- wandering the Outlands, leaving whenever things were too dangerous. The sight of things that technically can't be comprehended by human mind left her somewhat shell shocked and even traumatized- but since the time that a rescue team from Daybreak unintentionally came across her (ICly back in October) all the way to now, she's been on the road to recovery!

So while she's not entirely great at human customs, she's at least a lot less mute and wide-eyed. More importantly, she's ready to properly be considered a student! (Specifically, she'll be apped sometime into the second week of march)

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Aside from those interacting with her on the TDM, really interesting options for Pre-CR would be from during her time in the Outlands- or even before it! The exact details of where Reira originally came from in terms of 'people doing sketchy magical things' have been left vague specifically for anyone who wants to work with it- and also because Reira herself can't actually remember.

Likewise, it would be even COOLER if someone wanted to take the role of whoever went with her to the Outlands in the first place- that would be someone Reira would still remember, and naturally feel attached to!

Back to more likely, and general options- in addition to wandering many, many locations of the outlands (and thus possibly meeting, however briefly, anyone else who could have been there in passing if it makes sense), Reira's ICly been on Daybreak's campus since October. For the most part, she's been in the medical rooms, but especially in recent months she could have been seen wandering around and getting into stuff she probably shouldn't have. So if you want to have encountered her that way? Go for it!

(Over all, keep in mind that Reira is an empath; she can sense the emotions of other people around her, even if she doesn't know the word for what that emotion is. Because of how humans in particular operate, she has a difficult time coming to trust a lot of people in general- they don't always act according to their feelings. Feel free to keep that in mind CRwise! ...There will, of course, be an Opt-In and Permissions page for this when the app goes up.)
DESIRED CR: With a character like Reira, people who act as good influences, and caring sorts is of course important- but what is EQUALLY fun are playfully bad influences. The sort that won't necessarily be malicious, or take cruel advantage, but definitely convince her to do some not so great things like...well, skipping class for example. Or even just convincing her that things that really aren't real at all totally are because honestly you live in the Outlands, anything is possible.

More fun though, are people she can call out with empathy. Got a real sweetheart who puts up a front? Here's Reira, ready to call them out.

She could also really, really use someone to get that 'vulnerability to possession' problem fixed.

No sweetheart putting up a front, but I do have an incredibly traumatized and self-loathing teenager with anger issues and probably some sort of social anxiety who puts up a front of being confident and well-adjusted. I'd love for someone to call him out on his self-doubt or just the fact that he's not nearly as happy alone as he tries to claim.

CHARACTER BLURB: Robin is the final product of a centuries-long breeding program orchestrated by a Contracted Coven to create a vessel for the very powerful Daemon that the cult had contracted with. With Nightfall fast approaching, his mother started having second thoughts and decided to take baby Robin and run, eventually taking shelter with a mage family who ended up teaching Robin everything he knew about Magecraft, while he also learned military strategy and swordsmanship on the side. The cult, known as the Grimleal, eventually found them again and killed his mother and the mage family trying to reclaim him, but he managed to escape, somehow losing his memory in the process.

He was then picked up by Prince Chrom of the Country of Yilsse, his sister Lissa and their retainer Fredrick. Since his memories of his skills as a tactician was one of the few things he still remembered he ended up joining Chrom's group, called the Shepherds (Which I still haven't decided if it's a Rune Guard Company or a Hunter Clan).

With things in Yilsse being quiet as of late, Robin decided to leave the Shepherds for a while to lend his skills to Daybreak Academy.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Fellow teachers, people who might know about the mage family that was killed by the Grimleal and possibily put two and two together, I dunno, anything you think would make sense.
DESIRED CR: Robin needs people to geek out with. He likes learning new things, not just strategy. Castmates would be lovely, but no pressure

I've played her before in a game and the restrictions on using time travel make it barely usable outside her original "canon". So power-wise I'm still waffling a bit and any thoughts would be appreciated!
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Since she's of a more mundane background, people who have helped her get introduced to the more supernatural side of things would be cool. So would faculty to have a pre-existing relationship (good or bad) with!

CHARACTER BLURB: Jack is an enigma. While awakening his Flame, he also got his first taste of Feycraft. In his attempt to save his sister from drowning in the frozen lake, his act in switching places and thus falling in caught the attention of one such Fey. As with all Fey magic, it doesn't quite work as intended and while attempting to revive the boy within the water, the creature instead changed Jack into something else entirely.

His Flame was quite clearly meant to be ice magic, but in combination of the Feycraft, Jack didn't just harness ice. He created it. His skin became pale, his hair turned white, and his once brown eyes turned blue. He also, unfortunately, slept in the lake for several hundred years. He awoke in modern day Pennsylvania. The Fey, surprisingly, brought him the letter for Daybreak Academy shortly after. Jack was one of them now. At least partly.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Probably a clan if I change it so that he doesn't sleep for 300 years? Otherwise, I'm pretty open to just about anything.
DESIRED CR: Friends, people to teach him the modern ways of the world since I don't think he'd be running around for 300 years and not get the letter to Daybreak sooner unless he's an immortal teacher (hence the TBD LOL) We'll see as all of this is subject to change!
OTHER: I'll be refining the Blurb to something a bit more coherent as this is very off the cuff but I'd like to keep Jack's Spirit/Sprite/etc origins in some fashion! He will, however, not be invisible this time around.

CHARACTER BLURB: I'm actually thinking about going mostly back to her original concept of being a werecat, meaning she has basically gone full circle. Only not actually lycan, but a type of fey (or Daemon? Yokai?) that had always been animalistic from the start. Generating the various myths and tales like the nekomata and Cait Sith for centuries. They have minimal shapeshifting/glamour abilities to appear human-like, with the older ones having mastered it perfectly, and can move between the forms whenever they like. As well as mix and matching, such as gaining their claws back in 'human' form to defend themselves.

Kali is specifically from a clan that pretty much gave up on the Outland lifestyle entirely to live in the human world - where things are a little more peaceful, less deadly. They are also quite fond of the sun and have revered it for a very long time. It's bright, warm, and fits well with their fiery element. ...Naturally being on good terms with humans and enjoying daylight, they are very much not okay with Nightfall. They really don't want to loose on a good thing they had going for awhile now.

Sooner or later some of the cats found out about Daybreak, either that or a connection lead to another given or take how many societies have probably tried to eradicate them at some time, before finding out 'nah they cool'. Kali was only one such candidate sent to bolster the academy's numbers and learn a new thing or two, others proooobably joined too but exist purely as non-interactable background fodder. The rest are likely preparing elsewhere, waiting to be called on.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: None, however I am wide open to some!
DESIRED CR: Other mythical creatures, yokai, daemons, lycans, whichever. I'll accept crazy cat ladies too.

He's also the main antagonist of the game because Joey Drew tried to bring him to life with the titular ink machine and got a literal demon instead, or did he?

STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Unsure, definitely not a teacher.
CHARACTER BLURB: The by product of Joey Drew contracting with a daemon in a desberate bid to help his failing studio by bringing his creations to life. Bendy might just be an ink construct or he might be an actual daemon himself, but it's not entirely clear. He's a bit different from the other "Living Cartoon Characters" that were created as a result of Joey's contract. Either:

1) He's the first one created like in canon and like in canon he was a monsterous creature that only vaguely resembled the character he was supposed to be at first, leading Joey to lock him up in somewhere in the studio so he wouldn't be seen and scare away investors. Then the events of the game happened and instead of him being killed at the end I guess Henry managed to reason with him or something and he and possibly others were brought to the academy. At some point he managed to figure out how to shapeshift to look like his "normal" self and he was eventually dubbed safe to be around the students. Possibly also becoming a student himself. The hope is to help him learn to control his powers and also help him learn to trust humans after how badly he was treated by Joey. Of course the staff would be keeping a close eye on him.

2) He's actually a later attempt by Joey to create a "perfect" Bendy that was more successful than the first, though he's still not a fusion with a human Susie!Alice or anything. He still gets abanoned with everyone else because things had gotten too out of hand by then. Events of the game basically happen exactly like canon with Henry finding him afterward. Either way, he still gets brought to Daybreak Academy and is now a student who is learning to control his powers, which still involve being able to shapeshift into a more monsterous form like the Ink Demon Bendy from the game among other things, but he's not quite as messed up as in the first backstory. He still has abandonment issues and isn't sure about humans though.


PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Mostly staff members who want to be responsible for keeping an eye on him, or people he's decided to bother out of boredom. The lttle guy's a prankster.

BLURB: Mario's long time nemesis and bitter rival, Bowser is the king of all of koopas and a royal jerkface. Him and Mario go way back and they've been fighting ever since they were kids. He's hatched many schemes to take over the Mushroom Kingdom (and the whole world at some points), but no matter how close he gets, Mario always puts a stop to him.

Also sometimes they go karting and play sports together. It's no big deal.

STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Faculty
CHARACTER BLURB: Basically similar to his canon self, save for a few differences such as him being the second rather than the original. Where things divert is after the latest battle with Mario. Bowser took notice of Mario having took off and rather than use this opportunity to kidnap Peach (again), he decided to track him down and figure out what was more important than their petty squabble. Upon finding out that Mario went to Daybreak Academy (and figuring out what exactly was going on outside his little bubble, yes he had no idea what Nightfall was, nor did he care at first), he decided to join the school for two reasons.

1. To help stop Nightfall because it would lead to mass destruction and likely wipe out most if not all non-daemon life, which isn't really cool in Bowser's book since it's kinda hard to rule over people who are dead. Also destruction is his shtick and he really doesn't care for most other daemons outside of the ones in his territory. Most of the time they just use him or betray him so the less competition the better in his eyes.

2. To prove he can be a better teacher than Mario (he really wants to beat Mario at something and he's incredibly petty) and also to take every opportunity he can get to annoy him.

Basically his reasons for helping are awful and entirely selfish. He's also not trying to hide this fact, either. Letting people think otherwise would totally ruin his cred.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Currently in a mutual hatemance with Mario.
DESIRED CR: People who are also huge jerks. People to call him out on being a jerk. People to laugh at how dumb he is. Students who either hate his guts or think he's awesome (somehow). Anything, really.
OTHER: Bowser might be pretty infamous among some people due to his status as an evil king, so negative CR right off the bat is totally fine. Also having actually met him at some point is totally cool, too! As is having never heard of him. That'll take the wind out of his sails.

CHARACTER BLURB: Professor Guerra is an NPC at Daybreak Academy who teaches about ghosts, spirits, and spectral energy in general. He has a fearsome reputation as being a harsh and demanding teacher, but most of the people in his classes speak highly of him.

Since his son and daughter-in-law are globe trotting adventurers, his granddaughter Isabel basically lives at the school. She's been aware of the supernatural since she was a tiny tiny babby and finds it all totally mundane. She's got a reputation for picking fights with various minor spirits that are attracted to all the energy surrounding the school, and for generally being pretty rough and tumble.

She has telekinetic powers that can only effect ghosts and spirits (and humans who are sensitive to such things), and a book possessed by a spirit that gives her power over paper. If anyone is familiar with canon, they know what having that book around means in terms of future plots.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Canon Isabel is 12 but I'm aging her up to like 14 just so she'll actually have some peers for this AU. Anyone who's been around Daybreak for a long time could have run into her as she's basically lived here since she was like five. She's definitely more on the jock end of the social spectrum, so people who are into physical stuff are more likely to know her than people who are into more cerebral stuff.
DESIRED CR: Sparring partners. People who are new to the supernatural that need someone who actually is used to this stuff. People she can bully but like in a friendly way. People who know her grandfather and might judge her based on what they know of him. (Grandpa Guerra is huge, intimidating, kind of an asshole, and is a very demanding teacher who none-the-less inspires great loyalty in most of his students.)

BLURB: Phil's a stubborn old satyr who was in the business of training heroes, except none of them were really up to scratch, and often died. It became a recurring pattern. All Phil wanted was to train someone who'd be remembered in the stars, that people would look at and be like "that's Phil's boy". He got close with Achilles, he thought he would be the one to go the distance...but then, you know, the heel thing. Phil spent years in isolation and retirement becoming generally cranky and cynical until Hercules, son of Zeus, showed up at his door.

STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Faculty. Probably teaches like...practical...heroics. Or something. Like Phys Ed but mad intense.
CHARACTER BLURB: I'm gonna try and keep it as similar to his canon backstory as I can. Old Greek goat man was, at some point, in the business of training heroes, failed a good number of times, and almost had The One but then...he died, and Phil decides to fuck off into isolation because you can only take so much of that. Then, with Nightfall approaching, and a school needing teachers, he was probably reached out to by a concerned party who knew of him as a trainer of heroes...and even if you're retired, you can't really say no to helping save the world. ...Except he probably did, a few times, before giving in. All of his students are his last hopes, so he's pretty harsh on them.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Living most of his life as a hermit, he probably won't know anyone personally before becoming a teacher at the Academy. He'd probably be Known Of by people in the business of knowing about heroes and myth, though he might be more likely to be seen as a failure more than anything.
DESIRED CR: Negative, positive, I'm all for it. Phil having a student who can be his Hercules? THE DREAM. But also, frustrate him by being a bunch of untameable feral teens. Make him want to quit.

So I feel I would be remiss if I didn't suggest this giant gangly feral weirdo do something with Phil- the basic idea is that he's been told by the forces of fate to be a hero (via a handy dandy primordial magical item called the Hero Medal that has chosen many heroes throughout history) and the stress has given him a stomach ulcer because if he's the hero everyone is doomed because he's a garbage child who hates himself and also heroism is dumb, he just wants to live.

Exactly the sort of guy who needs a trainer to be harsh on him if you ask me.

I also play Mario who has been all around the Outlands being heroic for a little less than 100 years and for some reason, my immediate thought is a sort of 'urgh THIS guy' reaction to the moustached man who embodies heroism who seemingly has everything fall into his lap.

BLURB: What if all the cryptids and mythical creatures learn martial arts and punched each other a lot?

That's Darkstalkers, baybeee!

Rikuo specifically is the emperor of Atlantis, which is in the Amazon basin not the Atlantic, a position he was chosen for rather than inherited due to being a) a prodigy of a shape-shifting warrior and b) being a generally all around great guy. After his kingdom was destroyed by the horrifying cosmic monster Pyron's arrival on Earth, Rikuo set out to get revenge (which he didn't get) and rebuild his kingdom (which he started to do).

In his heart, he's a fun-loving party boy who has well earned the title Aquatic Daredevil for his adventures but he takes his responsibilities very seriously and won't let anything stand in his way, so once he took up the title of Emperor he retired his wild ways. Kind of looks down on surface dwellers, but not maliciously. It's more like 'it's so sad that you land crawlers aren't as a good as us merfolk.'

It's only lightly touched on in actual game canon but all the extended material makes it clear- he's curiously attractive for a fishman and almost everyone at least acknowledges he's really hot.

CHARACTER AU NAME: Rikuo
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student! Probably 15-17ish (or fishman equivalent)
CHARACTER BLURB:
Rikuo's history is mostly the same- the biggest difference is that he's not the emperor yet. He's the emperor in waiting, chosen from his people to be the next ruler but the current ruler has some years ahead of them. As such he's in full swing with his adventurous impulses and perhaps even a little overzealous with it because he knows he won't be so free to enjoy himself as Emperor. I haven't quite decided if Rikuo has been sent to Daybreak by the current emperor to prepare him for the role or if he's chosen to come amongst some controversy with his people because he likes humans and they don't. Or something in between. Also haven't decided if he's still from Brazil or has come from like... the Elemental Plane of Water.

Either way, he'll be a total fish out of water 🥁 who'll be very eager to learn everything about how things work on the surface and make friends. Cause trouble, be a dumb teen before he's not allowed to be. He's ludicrously overconfident because he's been a big fish in a small pond 🥁 for most of his life.

He's still mysteriously attractive and leans heavily into his charming roguishness. I'd love to milk that for all it's worth- it's not just for comedy, it's an effective way to get drama too. Then every now and then he throws in something reminds everyone just how alien he is.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR:
Just because I'd rather preserve all the 'what is this, why do humans do this, what do you mean you don't want me to see you naked' magic he'd likely be a new student. But being him, he's roamed the seas getting involved in stuff like he's a shounen protagonist so if anyone has reason to think they might have met him doing that that's grand. Or diplomatic folks who have visited his home society and met him only in formal settings would be fun.
DESIRED CR:
Everyone get a crush on him. I'd especially love a member of the faculty to clutch their faculty handbook like the bible 'lord that fish is dangerous.' People for him to drag into nonsense, some of which may well be crossing a line from 'adventurous' or 'harmless fun' into 'reckless and potentially tragic' to knock him down a peg. Rivals (he's a fighting game character he'll pick a fight over anything). He'd certainly be into joining any clubs that could let him be the centre of attention, like drama.

STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Student. Age can be anywhere from 16-23, since she never got her diploma or GED, and would like to.
CHARACTER BLURB: Family: As far as Allie knows, she has no family to speak of. She's been a foster brat for as long as she can remember, getting bumped from household to household. She did better in homes without any other children, but often got into fights with foster siblings, which got her booted from homes pretty fast. During her teenage years she often ran away from whatever home she was assigned to, and argued with her foster parents. She may have had one or two foster siblings she got along with okay, but none she keeps in regular contact with to this day.
Education: Allie didn't graduate from high school with her peers. Her formal education is very limited, and her grades were awful. If she ever got a C, she was proud of herself.
History: Almost from the beginning, Allie was a troubled kid. She had to forge her own identity, and got angry when others tried to mold her to their standards (even if those standards were decent and fair). She was rebellious and hot tempered, and expressed her frustration with physical violence -- pushing kids she didn't like, slugging kids who were too bossy on the playground, etc. She calmed down when she was left to her own devices, but she also got bored easily and would wander off to pick fights, vandalize property, and generally be a nuisance, especially during her teenage years. She dropped out of high school when she was fifteen, and when her foster parents tried to make her go back, she brought a knife to school and made loud public threats in order to get herself expelled. She was kicked out of the house and never went back. After this time, she flitted around the city, and eventually fell in with a small gang of other young delinquents.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Ex-foster siblings/parents would be pretty cool! Delinquents she hung out with while she was living on the streets might have a pretty big impact on her character and development since she'd like to see someone who 'made it' and start reflecting on her own choices. In the stories, she got along well with a guy named Jin who ran a mechanic shop and taught her how to work on cars. Originally it was for nefarious purposes, but they started making decent money out of being mechanics, so eventually they just stuck to the legal trade. Someone who could fill a similar role would be amazing (Jin dies when she's 23). There might be positive people/role models too, those who gave her a place to stay, food, clothes, etc. would have been remembered fondly -- she had a hang-up for a long time that people were only nice if they thought they were getting something out of it (gratitude, people owing them favors, religious brownie points, etc.) so those who were either genuinely kind or gave her good deals (you wash the dishes, I'll make you lunch) would have at least registered as 'this person is all right' in her book. Teachers might have an opportunity to have been the first to recognize her as a Candle and convince her to go to Daybreak.
DESIRED CR: Any of the above for past CR could also be played out more currently! She gets along well with calm people and dorks. I am ALL FOR negative CR, because if she goes in as a teenager, she'll still have a lot of anger issues and a foul mouth (this can be fixed if someone she really likes and respects is bothered by her swearing). She hasn't yet been able to learn kickboxing but will eagerly latch onto it if it's available as a class or taught by someone else who's willing to take her on as a student. Learning mechanics from someone who's good at it is a thing, she'll probably take to runes like a fish to water. She knows when undead are around, so anyone with that trait would ping her senses. (Allie didn't much like ghosts, and refused to acknowledge them when her foster parents rejected her claims that she could talk to their dead kid and sent her back when she kept insisting on the truth.) While she wouldn't have a love interest to start with, someone she's known and trusted for a long time could slow burn up to that point. In the stories, she winds up bonding with the paranormal psychologist on the team since he also practiced regular psychology and got to know who she was particularly well, so a counselor or just really smart and caring person could have a significant positive influence. Hanging out with other girls would be good for her too, since she mostly ran around with a bunch of dudes, so she's not that in touch with her feminine side. Help her clean up nice.
OTHER: I'll probably keep her ability to detect the undead, and have a natural inclination toward accessing her Radiance. Also her full original bio is here if you want more details or personality hooks to plan for CR!

If foster systems extended over countries I'd say she could've been in one Héctor's homes during his own jumps around. He managed to stay mostly in the one town (maybe I could swing him having been taken out one or twice only to immediately book it back or cause trouble enough to make it happen). Buuuut, again, gotta fudge that international border thing and after that it'd be a ten year age difference so she'd have been pretty young while he'd have been 16-17 tops. STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Neither. Is sought out by the school as a consultant on various Outlands matters. Procures familiars, offers information about supernatural creatures (and sometimes plants), takes dangerous creatures off the school's hands... And sells pets, obviously. All for a price. The price is usually sweets. Or overlooking some of his less scupulous behaviors, like selling murder pets to bad people.
CHARACTER BLURB: (This is going to veer Very Close to canon, since it fits so well.) D is an Outlands nature spirit that has been living in the human world and masquerading as a human, just like his father and grandfather have done for... centuries. Several dozen centuries ago, their species used to serve as messengers from the Outlands creatures to the humans and visa versa, but the humans grew distrustful of them. They were branded as monsters and daemons, and their whole species was almost hunted to extinction.

Fortunately, their species is reborn once they die--but not always as the same species. Some remain the same; some become other creatures; some become plants; some even become humans. Fast forward a millenia or two: There are only 3 of them left to carry this grudge against the humans. And they all look identical, even down to their voices and fingerprints. So any interaction with one could just as easily be passed off as someone else. Think you met this guy like 50 years ago? No, you're mistaken. That was his grandfather. Maybe. Who knows?

Currently, D specializes in obtaining and selling animals (and ocassionally plants) from both the human world and the Outlands. His main objective is to exact vengeance against humanity for hunting down his people and for their destruction of the world around them... but he's also taking his sweet time about it. As much as he says that he thinks humanity is rubbish, he's not keen on murdering humans that are actually doing good things. He'd much prefer to let them get themselves killed through contractual consequences. Buy a pet from him and sign the contract. Break one of the rules on the contract? It's not his fault if the pet turns into a monster and eats you. He gave you due warning, after all.

As for this Nightfall thing? He couldn't really care less. Humans are going to wipe themselves out one way or another. At this point, they're just delaying the inevitable. (Or so he says.)

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: I'd love for some Outlands people that already know D--or his father or grandfather. D's fairly respectful with other Outlands creatures, so long as they're not being a nuissnce to him. He shows deference specifically to any deity-like creatures, and generally is just... at his best behavior around them. He likes his fellow Outlands creatures, and he's usually willing to help them if it's not going to hurt him to do so.

I'd also like some humans who have heard of a mysterious Chinese man selling exotic pets with dubious results. Doesn't matter what time period. Maybe your uncle bought a tiger from some guy that looked like him, then just disappeared? Maybe he sold your great-grandmother a bird, just before she miraculously ascended to nobility. The sky's the limit here. D himself has been in Los Angeles, Berlin, and Tokyo at the very least. Possibly other places, too. He moves around every two or three years--or when enough heat catches up to him that he's forced to move again. Then he sets up shop in a new city.

DESIRED CR: I'd love to build CR with people who aren't sure which side this guy is actually on. Is he working for Nightfall??? Against it??? The school seems to be employing him in some manner, but he's pretty vocal about hating people, so... Who knows.

I'd also like some people to be his customers, obviously. He won't sell any murder pets to the school, since they're keeping him off the radar while he's here so long as he doesn't cause trouble in Soliel. But that doesn't mean that he won't sell them things to teach them some lessons. On the other hand, if they stick to their contracts, they could actually wind up with pets that do good things for them! He IS in the business of selling "Love, Hope, and Dreams", after all. Someone has to get that end goal once in a while.

OTHER: He's probably going to end up being a little more background compared to Imelda (who has her fingers in like 15 different pies at any one time), but I definitely plan on getting him involved in a number of questionable shenanigans.

She's been a teacher at Daybreak Academy pretty much since its inception, and yet she still manages to keep her charming good looks despite being 46483218 years old or whatever. She doesn't seem to take anything seriously, and few people at the Academy have seen her fight—she prefers to take a back seat, unless things go bad or someone threatens her kids. Legend says that she's terrifyingly effective in and out of combat, but honestly it's hard to tell if this is true or not.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: MY KINGDOM FOR A DAIKOKU?! But I'm interested in CR with grads and faculty alike, as well as current students. Since the subjects she'll be teaching are still largely up in the air (maybe something about contracts? idk), I'm leaving this extremely open.

CHARACTER BLURB: Noctis is the heir of the Lucis Caelum family, a family of "mages" that dates back to nearly two thousand years. How have they stuck around so long?

The answer is simple. They're not really mages. What they all are are contracted to an even more ancient, debatably divine source of power known only as the Crystal. Using the Crystal's power they were able to protect the city of Insomnia - a city of humans in the Outlands, because the ancients were super smart you guys - and keep it protected. Not all the time, but well enough. Noctis is the next in line to take over the throne of Insomnia, and he's not super ready for it. His connection the the Crystal is weak, thanks to the long-term effects of a daemon attack he suffered as a child, and he's also just kind of, you know. Lazy. He is not yet at the level of being a king; he needs more character development.

Without all of the royalty and politics and war brewing on the horizon for the people of Insomnia, Noctis is your average guy with ancient powers and a treasure trove of ancient weapons to inherit. He enjoys fishing, gaming, and sleeping, and is generally friendly (if a little bit sarcastic sometimes) and ready to help people. (Gotta do them side quests, you know.) He's being sent to Daybreak largely because of aforementioned war brewing for Insomnia. It was decided it would be best to get him out of the city, so his father has given him well wishes and the task of learning how to be a good king - and that means learning how to get more out of the Crystal's power, and maybe learning a few new tricks.
PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Anyone familiar with the Outlands who would've been to Insomnia or know of it! The city is relatively modern despite the isolation of being in the Outlands, so it's pretty easy to say the city gets a lot of visitors who aren't just a bunch of stubborn people living in a bubble out in Weirdo Land.
DESIRED CR: Anything and everything! People who can help him learn how to be responsible, people he can goof off with, people who will go on journeys with him to recover the Royal Arms so he can increase his arsenal and get, like, ridiculous chainsaw swords.

It's unlikely someone remembers her parents' cult, but she ran one herself for a while called The Umbrella that focused on togetherness and purity and how Nightfall was going to be glorious. She claimed to be a vampire, and eventually it went south and she had to go underground again. Old clans or long-lives characters could potentially remember that.
